Persona 5, a turn-based JRPG with visual novel elements, follows a high school student with a criminal record for a crime he didn't commit. Wait… once you find the villain's treasure you have to leave the dungeon and send out a calling card? Why didn't they tell me that earlier? I saved right outside the entrance without peeking in. Gah!

They claim they're worried about people getting spoiled on the game. That's obviously pretty bs. If people don't want to be spoiled on Persona 5, they're not going to accidentally watch a stream because it's on the Internet. They are still worried about losing out on sales because they think people will just watch the game rather than play it. I don't know when some of these publishers (mostly Japanese it seems) are going to get it in their heads that it just doesn't work like that.

I would love to see some research/numbers on how many people own the game that they watch an entire playthrough of on YouTube or Twitch. It just seems like it has to help more than it hurts.

A jrpg is officially the highest rated ps4 game on metacritic if you’re not counting remasters. Good to see some Japanese developers back at the top of the gaming industry again.
