However, to ensure their success they send their army into Earth's past in hopes of avoiding any modern weapons and increase their chances of saving their planet. However, Earth has learned of their evil plot and has developed a experimental time portal and has sent their own one man army to stop them. The player takes control of Dr. Vincent Gilgamesh who has acquired a massive arsenal including pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers and many more heavy weapons and must travel through various time periods including Medieval times, prehistoric times, Ancient Rome and Egypt and even the distant future. The gameplay is similar to Contra where the player advances through the stages, shooting at various enemies and collecting power-ups and must also avoid various traps and pitfalls scattered throughout the levels. There are also the standard bosses at the end of each stage. Less

Beat. I liked the shooting controls with 1 button to shoot while moving, and another button to lock in place to hit those diagonals without moving. I also liked the 4 types of bombs though not the 2 letter names for them; they could have used more descriptive names. I saved bombs to unload on bosses but did not really use the time bomb. By the time I beat the game I had 14 lives saved up due to extreme save state scumming, because this game was very difficult with lots of enemies and cheap positioning. I did not like how picking up health at full hp gave you a life but then reduced your hp to 1. It was kind of more realistic that lives are simply how many health bars you have, but losing a life also lowers your gun level, so getting a life could potentially screw you over. The prehistoric bike level was absurdly difficult, being a side scrolling shoot em up with ridiculous amounts of enemies coming from all directions. The lock button locked the angle of the gun instead of preventing movement, but the time it took to adjust the gun made it very …

The lock button locked the angle of the gun instead of preventing movement, but the time it took to adjust the gun made it very difficult to deal with enemies without taking damage. I found it was best to shoot at a diagonal from either up high or down low. The 2nd bike level in the future was much better because the enemies were situated more sensibly. The bosses had some interesting mechanics, like shooting their projectiles to avoid damage. The 1st boss gave me trouble because I did not know I could climb the wall. It was interesting that the aliens were only invading out of desperation to save themselves, but the rest of the plot was kind of nonsense. Timey wimey stuff with the humans conveniently developing time travel to be able to counter the aliens, and all but the hero conveniently dying at the last minute. Still a fun game better than a lot of SNES shooters.
