Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is the sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and the second game in a spin-off from the main Tomb Raider series. The two-player cooperative campaign from the first game is expanded to support up to four players. They need to work together in a platform environment to explore the temple, defeat hordes of enemies from the Egyptian underworld, solve puzzles, and avoid traps, using a high-angle perspective like the previous game. When playing together, the level lay-outs change to support cooperative actions.

Raider of Ancient Tombs

Somewhat shallow but enjoyable action adventure featuring your favourite tomb raider. The controls and the puzzles are the best thing about Temple of Osiris, and it looks pretty good, but the story is forgettable and doesn't offer much innovation overall. The isometric perspective works well and controlling Lara with the dual sticks feels good. Only check it out if you're an insanely huge fan of the series, but you won't miss much if you decide to pass on this one.

Alright puzzle-platformer

Intro

This is a 3D puzzle-platformer with combat. You walk around a temple jumping, shooting, and rolling and grabbing things.

Review

I only played this for 70 minutes because i don't care for the genre, but overall it was a decent experience. Figuring out how to get to places generally wasn't that hard, combat was fine and there's a nice variety in objects. It all looks pretty good too.

On the negative side there's the clunky 3D platforming that can be hard because the game loves to zoom out a lot. The game also has microtransactions for some harebrained reason. Getting magic rings requires you to buy gems or collect them from vases and the like, which is just a pointless waste of time. The checkpoint system isn't perfect either. I died during a fight and the game put me back a minute or so before the right rather than at the start.

If you can deal with the flaws it seems to be a decent puzzle-platformer, though i would wait for a discount.

Un digno sucesor de Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light

Krauzer's review of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

This title is a top-down action-adventure game that shines in its cooperative multiplayer. Up to four players can team up to solve puzzles, fight mythological enemies, and explore beautifully rendered Egyptian tombs. The blend of action, platforming, and environmental puzzles makes for an engaging experience, especially when coordination between players is needed. The visuals are appealing, with strong lighting effects and detailed environments that bring the ancient setting to life.

However, the game isn’t without flaws, the isometric perspective sometimes makes platforming feel imprecise, and the story, while serviceable, lacks emotional depth or originality compared to the mainline entries in the series. Solo players may find the game short and less satisfying, as the design clearly favors cooperative play. Unfortunately for me this is how I played this title, without using the coop feature, and it is not the ideal way of playing, I advise againts it if you don't have company for this title.

Overall, this game offers a fun and polished co-op adventure that’s best enjoyed with friends. It may not be groundbreaking or as ambitious as mainline Tomb Raider titles, but its charm lies in its fast-paced teamwork, light puzzle-solving, and mythological atmosphere. This is most definitely …

A Fun and Brisk Action Adventure

I really enjoyed this game. The simple progression of dungeons, bosses and item upgrades was immensely satisfying for me. In a lot of ways this plays like a bare-bones version of a 2D Zelda game. The game could stand to be a little longer and more difficult, but overall, I really enjoyed it while it lasted. The story/presentation is very sparse and at times the fixed camera angle can make some of the platforming tricky, but the dungeons and combat are both very solid. I played this game entirely as a single-player experience, but it apparently can be played as a co-op game which could potentially give it some replay value. I'd definitely recommend this game as long as you can get it at a reasonable price.

Simple and enjoyable enough so far. It does have graphical issues on PS5 though. The giant discolored bars are a bit distracting at times, but not enough to make the game unplayable.

It is an alright game, imo it lacks polish and a more cohesive gameplay loop. The cutscenes are very distracting and it reminds of games of the 2000s. overall feels very janky.

the puzzles are fun, the combat is entretaining. not sure if i would go out of my way to recommend it

Beat solo, including all 5 challenge tombs. I did not care for collectibles and challenges; I did them if it was easy and not out of my way. I used the starting pistols mostly for the first half or so of the game because of their lack of ammo cost. As the game progressed I used a shotgun, assault rifle and flamethrower. By the end of the game my weapon line up was a high powered smg as my default weapon (replacing the pistols) due to its minimal ammo cost, a high powered shotgun, and chaingun (which I got from the gold challenge in the last tomb right before the final boss; the only gold challenge I got). After beating the game I did a combat challenge to try out my various weapons. The chaingun is the best with moderate ammo cost and damage combined with extreme rate of fire and good accuracy. The dual machine pistols and high powered assault rifle are almost as good, completely wrecking large groups of enemies. The high powered shotgun, high powered rifle and rocket launcher all do extreme damage per shot but with a slow rate of fire, and are more suited to …

The dual machine pistols and high powered assault rifle are almost as good, completely wrecking large groups of enemies. The high powered shotgun, high powered rifle and rocket launcher all do extreme damage per shot but with a slow rate of fire, and are more suited to dodging around a lot between shots; with the shotgun firing a spread that is best at close range and the rocket launcher doing splash damage that will hurt you. The automatic shotgun is pretty good. The high powered smg and dual smgs are about the same as each other, being a decent workhorse type weapon. Grenade launchers are like the rocket launcher but a bit less effective while the flamethrower has terrible range and decent damage.

Once I figured out how loot chests worked by the end of the first tomb, I only spent gems on the 1000 chests, which got me some sweet gear. I have silver amulet of treasure hunter, supply hunter, mana regen and health regen, which is awesome. Gold ring with every resistance, and bronze ring with weapon damage and bomb radius. Those are the only 2 rings I have that do not have penalties or weather restrictions. One thing that annoyed me is there does not seem to be a way to get rid of items. The game reminds me a lot of Sacred 3 though I found there to be too much emphasis on platforming and puzzle solving when I would rather be just shooting hordes of enemies. I had the most fun with the combat challenges. The puzzles were pretty good and the platforming passable. It seemed like the platforming was a bit sticky to help you not fall off when falling would not kill you, but not so sticky other times when you would die. There was only 1 time where this really annoyed me because the checkpoint save occurred right before a battle and then a tricky platforming part that I died a couple times at. But it was a simple matter of backtracking slightly to retrigger the save after I had killed the enemies.

Probably won't play again but I could see playing it multiplayer, wrecking the old dungeons with the chaingun, and maybe trying for gold to unlock more guns. I highly doubt they will be able to compete with the chaingun though.

6.8/10
