Another game that isn't really that good or that bad but I sunk some time into it anyway. Knights of Pen & Paper is a parody game of playing dungeons and dragons at a table with your friends. You travel around the map fighting enemies in a turn-based style with your party, all themed around typical D&D character archetypes. The humor is pretty spot-on if you're familiar with the sort of games that they're parodying. The gameplay is simple and straightforward - basically a turn-based RPG with none of the RPG - and there's plenty of grinding and tedium. The novelty and humor of it got me through a decent number of hours, but don't go into it expecting anything more than some silly jokes and some casual turn-based gameplay.
Actually played the "Deluxiest Edition" on PS4, but that wasn't an option.
All in all, a fun little game that improves upon the first in most ways. There are some free DLC options that you "buy" with in game currency and include side quests and character classes.
KoPP2 is paced slower than the first, requires less grinding (almost none for me) and introduces a variety of "terrain" effects, which most of the time just add tedium more than strategy.
What this game didn't do as well as the first is inspire any sort of replayability, whether it be character re-rolls, trying out different parties, or trying parts in a different way. I used one party the whole time, and minus changing one character for one part,
If you really like these old school inspired, turn-based RPGs, this is another decent entry to kill a few hours.
