Great game!

I needed the first chapter to get a bit used to the pacing in this game. It has a lot in common with Danganronpa, but isn't quite the same. Still the characters are great, the mysteries are fun to solve and the main story kept me curious!

One of the best games I've played lately. The writing is fun, the mysteries, while not particularly hard, are enjoyable, and it fills that Danganronpa-shaped hole in my heart.

I'm a slut for psychopop [spoilers]

There are so many things wrong with this game. Why are the moral implications of my actions never explored? Why does the protagonist look like a child? Why is the entire world so incredibly into Evil Science? WHY does the protagonist look like a CHILD?

There are so many things wrong with this game. Why are the moral implications of my actions never explored? Why does the protagonist look like a child? Why is the entire world so incredibly into Evil Science? WHY does the protagonist look like a CHILD?

And yet, when an anime woman death god slits my throat in a neon, imaginary dia de los muertos labyrinth, there is not a bone in my body that isn't completely on board. This game, to my glee and relief, contains the essence of 'pychopop', a genre created to describe the Danganronpa games, which has been completely devoid of new additions until the release of Rain Code. This is the land of deus ex machina, and of deus ex deus, and machina ex deus, and so on and so forth. The land of grim, gruesome violence and horror, accompanied by peppy visuals and a base, obnoxious style of comedy.

The unpredictability of the mysteries of this game, and of the overarching mystery which ties the story together, hinges on the constant flip-flop between rational and nonsensical reasoning. The game throws everything at you with equal importance, whether it is a serious challenge to your deductive reasoning, or the narrative equivalent of a 'losersayswhat'. You might be able to outsmart the smarts, but if you try too hard, you won't be able to out-stupid the stupids. Some might, very fairly, suggest that this makes the game terrible. Those losers will never have a floor-boyfriend.

It brings back the deduction mini games of Danganronpa with a more ambitious structure. It's a semi-open world with side quests. Each chapter has me teaming up with a different detective. Each one has their own unique ability that adds a gimmick to shake things up making each chapter stand out. It's still mainly focused on murder mysteries which is a little disappointing since Master Detectives can be used to solve any kind of mystery. The stories are still compelling though obfuscating just enough so even if I've guessed some of the answers, I still won't know the whole picture until the end. The story is good. It focuses on the damage that hiding the truth can do on a micro and macro level. The characters are fun, but they still managed to create a gross character that creeps on all the women. I don't know why this writer finds that so amusing. They managed to do enough things that are exciting and different that they managed to create their best game since the original Danganronpa.

It was a solid experience but wished the game would trust you because most of the times it treats you like you were some baby that doesn´t know to play a videogame, holding your hand everytime, but as I say, it was a solid experience, more if you take into account this is a new IP. Both Ch 2 and …

It was a solid experience but wished the game would trust you because most of the times it treats you like you were some baby that doesn´t know to play a videogame, holding your hand everytime, but as I say, it was a solid experience, more if you take into account this is a new IP. Both Ch 2 and Ch 4 were my favorite from this game.
