Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024)

I tried the 2.5-hour demo on PlayStation Plus so I could get a feel for this gameplay, and I like what I’ve seen so far.

Definitely enjoyed exploring the Vatican’s secrets. Got nervous always trying to act nonchalant when walking around the (Italian WW2-era) Fascists, but it was fun when I got to fight back a bit too.

Maybe someday I’ll pick up a proper copy and play the whole thing.

I felt like this was on it's way to being a 5 star game from me when I was finishing up Egypt. I enjoyed the quick vignettes, but then I got to the last major location and royally lost steam. I agree with other reviewers that have said the less of this game you play the better it is, but I just can't help trying to track down collectibles. By the end I decided not to go for the secret ending because I was not game for the busy work. According to xbox I hit 810/1000 points and I think I might have liked this game more if my achievement score was closer to 500.

In general this game shines with traversal puzzles and main story beats. The Vatican and Egypt were a joy to explore, but when you weren't solving a puzzle this game could get tiresome.

From Swedish studio Massive Entertainment, who earlier made Wolfenstein games New Order and New Colossus before. Heard great things about them, I own both on Steam and been meaning to play them sometime!

Borrowed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle from the Library in autum. I really loved the overall feeling of this game. It felt like playing a real Indiana Jones movie. It had a fun and adventurous story that was engaging through it all.

The whip is a lot of fun to use and fits Indy perfectly. The pistol was OK while the melee combat wasn’t that good. The stealth part of the game was fun.

Visually the game looks great, I like the atmosphere and the different environments. Exploration and puzzles was fun through it all.

Troy Baker was incredible as Indiana Jones and truly sounds just like Harrison Fords Indy!

A great adventure that nails the Indiana Jones vibe. I want to get back to it and play the DLC Order of the Giants.

It felt really good playing an Indiana Jones game in this current gen. The story was engaging and all the supporting cast of characters were all compelling. Indy himself was a blast. Troy Baker did a phenomenal job with his Indiana Jones voice work. He captured his playfulness as well as his tones of annoyance and anger. What I couldn’t get fully behind was playing the game in first person view. It felt odd at times, especially when platforming. All in all, I enjoyed it more than I anticipated and had a good time with it despite its flaws.

Tiene un combate simple que se centra en ser disfrutón, siendo increiblemente divertido lanzar objetos que hacen boink en la cabeza de los nazis. Destaca la historia, ambientación, escenarios y el level design, su originalidad, consiguiendo tener esencia propia y ser la mejor película de Indiana Jones desde la tercera (la quinta está guapilla en verdá). La experiencia sin embargo se ha visto enturbiada un poco por varios bugs que afectaban a los coleccionables, que impedían conseguirlo todos, lo que es un tema en un juego de conseguir coleccionables enverdá.

The game starts off a bit slowly but its first main location is great fun. Loads of nooks and crannies to explore, you constantly feel like you're discovering new parts of the map, there are lots of different areas with different vibes, it's rich in atmosphere and the exploration and gameplay tie nicely into the storytelling. A very promising start. Unfortunately, the game quickly runs out of steam from there. Subsequent locations feel quite poorly designed in comparison. The second main location in particular is just boring. Everything looks the same and you spend a lot of time just running around an open landscape.

The storytelling and writing, too, become more and more lacklustre the further you progress. It manages to pull you in quite well with its central mystery in the beginning but never really takes it anywhere interesting. The words that come to mind to describe the story are mediocre and boring. Quite a few times I found myself listening to conversations that felt like they added nothing to the story and were neither interesting, nor entertaining. Even most of the big reveals and twists felt very predictable and unexciting. The main villain is especially poorly written and over-acted. He feels like a flat caricature and it was difficult to take any scene he appeared in seriously.

The puzzles are generally fun (if at times a bit simplistic) but they're ruined by the fact that you will constantly be given the solution by an NPC before you even have time to figure it out for yourself. And if you want to explore for a bit before solving the puzzle, that NPC will end up reminding you about the solution every 10 seconds or so which is hugely annoying. The stealth encounters are pretty good and feel both tense and satisfying. Combat is fine but I mostly avoided it. Exploration is great when it works (like in the first main location) but otherwise a bit of a slog.

The graphics are quite pretty, though especially the second main location suffered from the artists clearly doing no research whatsoever on what ruins from that culture actually look like. Still, it's a very good-looking game, just also quite resource-hungry. There is an annoying bug where the game will sometimes stutter horribly after booting it up. This is resolved by disabling and then re-enabling DLSS (but hopefully they'll patch it).

So yeah, all in all it's not a bad game and I had some fun with it but in the end I found it quite mediocre and the storytelling was especially disappointing for a game based on a movie franchise.

Played on PC, about 26 hours for main missions plus side quests.

This was great. For context, I have only seen the Raiders of the Lost Ark and hold a very unpopular opinion of not enjoying it at all. This game had a great sense of style, great performances (some particularly hilarious performances by the villains), a mysterious story that was enough to keep me hooked (though not absolutely enthralled) and interesting gameplay. The decision to go with an first-person immersive sim style of gameplay was great as it added some unique flavour to what might otherwise have been 'just another' third person stealth shooter. It was fun to find out different ways of approaching certain environments. I think some of the areas could do with some more fast travel points because traversing them was quite boring.

Overall, a great time.
