The best Monster Hunter experience

This is it! This is the best Monster Hunter game ever made. It has everything that makes the Monster Hunter series unique, but refined so everyone can enjoy it on some level. Monsters are creative and the battle system is amazing. The hunt/forge/grind loop is addictive even with its slow pacing. Sure, it might feel too slow at times and the story can be ignored at best, but that doesn't make it less impressive. I can't recommend this game enough.

So I hit my first really enjoyable hunt yesterday. Not that the hunts leading up to this one were not fun, but the Kirin hunt was truly a blast. It is the first that actually requires watching for patterns and learning the monster's tells. It was also the first fight that actually lasted almost the full time allotted, largely because of the amount of time spent dodging during its enraged phase instead of attacking (although I'll admit when the ten and five minute remaining marks hit I started taking more risks simply because I was running out of time). It was a great fight and I am definitely going back in to farm for some more gear and a nice new lightning Glaive.

I’m beginning to suspect that these cats don’t understand the meaning of veggie platter.

My obsession over this game is growing. This game is essentially 98% grinding, which is kind of fantastic.

gonna wait until i've played more to actually rate/review this but god i wish there were difficulty options. i wanna finish the story and keep discovering stuff but i don't have the time or patience to spend 50+ hours learning boss patterns by heart to be "allowed" to finish the game :(

Finally! after hours and hours of grinding and farming I was able to forge the Vaal Gamma armor! (Hunting Tempered Vaal was no joke as he can one-shot-kill you easily).

I'm so happy. This was one of my endgame goals.

The desire sensor has blessed me. Three Xeno'Jiva gems in a sinlge hunt and then four Rathian Spikes+ from the four carves. (tail severed, obviously).

YES! I finally defeated the Behemoth in the Monster Hunter x Final Fantasy XIV crossover event (thanks to an amazing team of randos that knew what they were doing) and got some lovely skins for my Palico and my Poogie.

So the FF event that starts in August features a moogle costume for your Palico. I played about half an hour about a month ago, but switched over to God of War. Now I am wondering if I need to power through the beginning of this game just to qualify to participate in the FF event. The key thing here …

Now I am wondering if I need to power through the beginning of this game just to qualify to participate in the FF event. The key thing here is that I am a crazed moogle fan, so I need this. Need!

Monster Hunter World is a rarity - a series known only for its difficulty and unapproachable nature suddenly becomes one of the most approachable and fun games this year!

As a hunter exploring the New World, you get the chance to hunt old and new monsters alike, with new weapon mechanics, new monsters, and plenty of quality of life changes. At its core, little has actually changed. No new weapons, and no special mechanics will jump out. Mounting works relatively the same, and monsters are still killed and crafted into parts and decorations with the exception of some randomly dropped ones.

As for the monsters? They are more lifelike than ever, nearly realistic in their gorgeous animations and natural behaviors. Whether it be turf wars or searching for a meal, Monster Hunter has never reached this level of ecosystem that it has in World. There aren't too many, but so much love has been put into them, from Great Jagras to Nergigante, that you won't be missing too much content. Save for a mostly empty endgame.

The shining star and what makes this a game for everyone, however, is the quality of life improvements. No more limited Whetstones! You can walk while you drink! Mantles to help you for a limited time! Eating while you're on a quest! These things seem simple, almost unnecessary, but they make the game a much smoother and far more palatable experience. The game is still difficult, much more so as new content is always introduced from Kulve Taroth to Lunastra to Arch Tempered monsters, and while it's a long way from HR 50 to the final quest unlock at HR 100, hunters will find the initial journey a blast to play. Find your friends and have a hunt!

Is it REALLY a new Monster Hunter Game?

I love Monster Hunter. I've played a few of them before and really perfected 4, but that was years ago. After I found out about a PS4 Monster Hunter, I was PUMPED. I love Monster Hunter. I've played a few of them before and really perfected 4, but that was years ago. After I found out about a PS4 Monster Hunter, I was PUMPED. Playing the game, however, I felt like they hadn't really changed anything at all. It's still Monster Hunter, just bigger. The controls are STILL clunky, so clunky and unresponsive that it ruined my time playing the game MANY times. I love difficult games, but not when it's because of glitchy, clunky controls, dumb camera angles, poor lock-on system. This game would really a 2.5/5 to me, but I'm sure to newcomers of Monster Hunter, this game would be a bit more enjoyable.
