Now, to be fair, for that $110 you DO get the full game, the DLC, and a digital voucher for Alan Wake Remastered. Which, I mean... Not the worst value prospect. I'll pay it. But I really hate this ugly trend Pokemon has started where you buy the full game, and then buy the full game plus the DLC with no bundle discount a year after release. Baldur's Gate 3 did it, and now Alan Wake 2.

But declining to put the Xbox version on the disc is a fucking joke, and likely comes down to Remedy or their publisher cheaping out and not wanting to spend the extra couple bucks for a second disc... Which is absolutely bonkers, since they're already charging a premium price.

I dunno man, this whole odyssey is really tarnishing my opinion of Remedy. Like I'm glad it's finally getting a physical release, and I'm glad the PS5 version is at least complete, but come on.

Only a few hours in and so far I am really impressed with the graphics, it looks gorgeous even with modest settings on my aging PC. I plan to build a brand new PC very soon so will be cool to see it in its full glory then. The story is just getting started but an intriguing start so far.

GOTY for sure. I love the inspiration with Twin Peaks nonetheless it stands on it's own. Boss fights are nice, story is even more nice and the ending is great, I was flabbergasted.

It's been a while since I got the aching want to get home from work and just play a game.

I just didn't think it'd be Alan Wake's return and getting lost in reading subway signals and graffitis.

Absolutely engrossed in it.

Finished with 100% achievements. That was a good romp, even if it largely felt enjoyable in spite of the gameplay rather than because of it. I wish Remedy's gameplay was as good as their narratives.

Oh my god I just finished a part in Alan Wake 2 that made my jaw hang open and tears stream down my face from how brilliant it was. Disneyland-level feelings, Cirque-level feelings, best-art-I’ve-ever-seen-level feelings. Mind blowing in its genius, boldness, originality, execution. Absolutely one of the greatest moments I’ve ever had in a video game. Kojima-San is furiously scribbling …

Absolutely one of the greatest moments I’ve ever had in a video game. Kojima-San is furiously scribbling notes I’m sure; it’s his kind of bold, unabashed creative courage, but distinctly in Remedy’s style.

Alan Wake II reminds me of Immortality in a lot of ways, particularly the non-linearity and shifting aspects of it.

I have a feeling that if Lance Reddick were still alive he would have played Mr. Door. How is that character not a reference to Mr. Hatch from Quantum Break?

Seeing Ahti was a wonderful treat, too. I love, love, love Control and love how the games are coming together so beautifully.

Dang this game

  • Starts off so strong, with such an engaging story
  • And has incredible, incredible visuals. The graphics are stellar.
  • Is scarier than Alan Wake and Control!

I am so excited to go through it. God dang it is good!

On the fence about picking this up before the Epic sale is over. It's a decent enough price, but I don't "need" to play it right away. I wonder if it will ever either come to Steam (Control did after a period of exclusivity on Epic) or if it will receive a physical edition (Control: Ultimate Edition did, but that was published by 505 and Alan Wake II is published by Epic).
