Maybe the game is feeling a little too slow-paced at points or just not able to sustain some of its novelty. I don’t mean that I want it to have more action, considering that as with other Remedy games I don’t really like the feel of the combat… (That doesn’t help either, but combat is not super common.) The exploration sections which focus on basic puzzle-solving and collection of evidence and story inspiration are kind of the problem for me. They just aren’t that interesting to engage with and are bogged down with some required menu-based mechanics that are sort of clunky to interact with and come up too often. It’s a game where I want to see what crazy stuff happens and see all the cool presentation and stuff, but at the same time I don’t really want to sit down and actually play it. I guess the technical issues I encountered didn’t help either. I like this more than Control, but this was also how I felt about that game, so I guess I’m not too surprised.

This game is bonkers. The first Alan Wake was kinda spooky but this one is actually stressful and disturbing at times. It's also a lot more of it's own thing as the first Alan Wake was very clear with its Twin Peaks references. It's one of the best looking games I've played too – both gameplay and cutscene-wise. The use of mixed media is nicely seamless.
Hard to also believe that it is from here, Finland. It's absurd feeling to see some silly Finnish humour and Finnish actors in a AAA game.

This is probably a silly question but: do you think I NEED to play the first game to enjoy this one? I know they're directly sequential, but I found the first game a little boring (just from a gameplay standpoint, I didn't get very far into it) but it's sounding like this improves a lot in that regard and has …

I know they're directly sequential, but I found the first game a little boring (just from a gameplay standpoint, I didn't get very far into it) but it's sounding like this improves a lot in that regard and has a really cool story to boot. So I guess either 1. can I just jump in or 2. is it exceptionally worth finishing the first game?

Bit of a warning about the Xbox version—early on, I encountered a soft lock that forced me to restart the game, a cutscene that totally dropped its audio, and various other small issues with audio syncing and visuals. Attempt 2 has gone more smoothly and I got well past where it trapped me before. Game seems great, but you may …

I am not a horror game fan, however I applaud sequels returning to form, from a long hiatus. Rock on!

I haven't finished the game, I think I'm halfway through, but you can already check my review in progress (in spanish). In the next day I will have a full review with a score.

So far is very good. Great atmosphere and it looks amazing. But I'm finding a lot of bugs (maybe they will be fixed with a day 1 patch) and the enemies are more annoying than scary.
