peter's review of Final Fantasy: All the Bravest

Please don't waste your money on this game!

It has a cool sounding premise. It's a Final Fantasy game that focuses on battles only. As you play, you level up and unlock new character classes that you use in your party. Pretty basic, but it sounded alright to me; Final Fantasy battle systems are generally pretty cool. This one's not cool. Not really even a little.

You start each battle with all of your party slots filled with a random assortment of classes that you have no control over. Once the battle starts, you tap a character to make them perform the only thing they are capable of in this world, fighting. White Mages that are traditionally curing support characters, are lame fighters in Final Fantasy ATB. So there's really no skill involved in a fight. You don't really even have to "tap," you can just smear your finger across the screen until every character has taken their turn. That's all there is to this game.

Well, that's not really all. There's the part where Square wants to get more money from you too. Once everyone in your party dies in a fight, you can either: wait 3 minutes per …

Well, that's not really all. There's the part where Square wants to get more money from you too. Once everyone in your party dies in a fight, you can either: wait 3 minutes per character to regenerate your party (I had 14 in my party when I quit playing), or use a golden ticket to bring them all back instantly. Guess what? You only have 3 tickets to start with, and the tutorial takes 2 of them away from you. Golden tickets regenerate 1 every 3 hours, or you can pay money to get more.

You can also spend money on "premium" characters from past Final Fantasy games like Cloud from FF7, or Rydia from FF4. Each character costs $.99, and you don't even get to pick which one you get!

Anyway, I'm not going to ramble on anymore about this thing. I'm just trying to warn anyone that follows me here to not waste $4 on this game.
