Massive game spoilers.

I really like this game. The whole time I was like "This is definitely a 4." But after doing the Mizuki route, I'm struggling not to give it a 5.

Kaname Date's 1:1 mix of absolute badass, and horny moron makes him one of the most relatable game characters I've encountered in a while.

This game reminds me a lot of Killer is Dead. Aesthetically, I mean. Gameplay-wise, it's very different. Unless Kaname Date pulls out his police issue katana later...

A lot of the characters in this have real Poke'mon trainer style outfits. And this gave me the heartiest laugh I've had in a while.

Another great visual novel/detective/puzzle game from Spike Chunsoft, not quite as strong as the Virtue series but still very good. Excellent voice acting, an intriguing story, though the dream exploration mechanic isn't as successful and can be quite irritating.

I started playing AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES.
In the first hour Kyushu (where I live) got a hilarious mention and I got to investigate a tanuki.
I think I love this game…!AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES tanuki

The more I play this game the more it seems like a fever dream (just done the Shovelforge somnium ...) I'm liking it more every session but man that early phase is sloooowww.

Apparently the ending is incredible so I'll try to squeeze some sessions between Liberty city and Spider-man 2

I really appreciate visual novels that add interactivity beyond just pressing X a million times. This definitely does that. It's still fairly linear but you can examine the environment and pick what order to discuss things in. Plus the whole Psyncing thing.

Quirky and anime and seemed like it could be fun but I guess I just don't have what it takes for detective VN and VN-adjacent games. Plus it's totally silly to have a system based on going as fast as possible but then also force you to explore to discover and then make basically arbitrary decisions to advance. I'll pass.

Platinum awarded after watch the true ending. Well, the last two endings were awesome. The plost is SO solid and interesting, and the characters are charming.

I actually liked the gameplay, too. It's not the reason the game is good, but I had fun with the somnium events.

I will be more interested in Spike Chunsoft since now. I like …

I really need to stop playing games that make you play multiple times to get the real ending. They always make me mad.

❶ FAVORITE: My favorite character is Aiba & Mizuki~<3 PROTECT!

❷ MEMORY: OTA'S MOM STORY WAS MY FIRST ENDING, which is arguably one of the BEST EMOTIONAL ONES.

❸ GAMEPLAY: Intriguing and down to earth type of visual novel run for me from the director of the 999

I wasn't a big fan of the game "Somnium" puzzles much of the time, and the constant sexual "jokes" made my eyes roll over 360 degrees. Doubly so with the "action" sequences.

However, the overall narrative along with its twists and turns were strong enough to override the eye rolling.
