So I exhumed the Wii, connected the GameCube controller and here we go! After watching the intro and taking a couple of steps in the mansion, she decided it was too creepy and gave me the controller: from then on, I played and she was the talking spectator, giving orders, cheering, being scared. It was fun! She did play some bits here and there though. Briefly. Anyway, it’s a really good game. It takes a lot from Resident Evil and many other sources and it manages to shake everything together and create something new and very Nintendo: deep, fun, lovely crafted, full of nice little flourishes. We found all the Boos and had fun completing the game, bumping just a little bit on the backtracking. We didn’t play with the flipped house though. Generally speaking, I can see people being disappointed with it as a launch game, considering the previous consoles all had a Mario, but this is a very good game that ends exactly when it should, right before outstaying its welcome.
