It's a gorgeous game and it's fun, but the problem I have with it is that it's a bit chaotic, which is strange for a game that's meant to be about putting people's spirits to rest. I want to focus on one spirit and their story but it keeps asking me to bring more spirits on board so I can …

I want to focus on one spirit and their story but it keeps asking me to bring more spirits on board so I can get things from them which will help me complete quests. Also, the stories aren't clear. I wish we got to know more about the characters (their actual real life stories) in-game, without having to read other material. We only get snippets of story and most of them vague.

I've put in a bit more time and now my patience is starting to wear thin with it. The odd jobs around the boat are getting annoying to me and I only like one of the passengers aboard at the moment. I'm still enjoying it but the chores are just getting in the way for me.

Enjoying it about 10 hours in. I'm starting to find a few things here and there a bit dull like using the foundry or the sawmill but still having a pretty good time and it's a good game to just unwind with at the end of the day.

I haven't finished this game. I will finish this game. But I just dove back in after 8 months off and like it just takes too long. I know that is a part of the point, but it is just too much. Like I've spent 13 hours in this world and it is time I don't regret, but I'm only …
I haven't finished this game. I will finish this game. But I just dove back in after 8 months off and like it just takes too long. I know that is a part of the point, but it is just too much. Like I've spent 13 hours in this world and it is time I don't regret, but I'm only at 35%. There is no way I am going to enjoy another 20 hours. Like it's way too long. It's such a shame too because what is there would be so perfect for a 5-8 hour game. Like this is a Strong five star 5-8 hour game. But I fear it'll end up being a three star 30 hour game.

I finished Spiritfarer today. It was a lot to take in the end, harder than I expected. It was wonderful and the ending is a beautiful conclusion, but it was still hard to let go.
I liked Jotun a lot, and I enjoyed most of Sundered with some simple criticisms of the game overall. But Spiritfarer is Thunder Lotus’ masterpiece, …

I liked Jotun a lot, and I enjoyed most of Sundered with some simple criticisms of the game overall. But Spiritfarer is Thunder Lotus’ masterpiece, a truly wondrous piece of game art. Simple yet profound. Heart-wrenching yet heartwarming. I’m glad for the experience.

If I had played this last year I think it would have been my favourite game released in 2020. It's definitely tied with Kentucky Route Zero as my favourite game I played this year, so far. ME Legendary, you might be going on the back burner for a couple days if I am not done this by Friday. Part of me really doesn't want to be done with it by then.

Delightful so far. It’s hard to put down, I find it compelling enough to keep me playing for long sessions. I need to step away and get some sleep. I think I’ve only scratched the surface so far but what I have seen is very enjoyable, cozy and comfortable.
Fishing, as usual, is not my favourite but I’m tolerating it …

It is also a very well made game, the graphics are cute and appropriate and the sound/music are discreet but fit the style. Spiritfarer also has a theme and plot that can be taken at various depths; a kid can play the game as a platformer & resource gathering while an adult can view the bigger and deeper picture with the emotional stories of all NPCs. Not everything is rosy and perfect however. The platforming can be challenging for casual players, the resource gathering is more grindy, tedious and tiring that what it needed to be and the various ship mini-games are not really so enjoyable after a while. So even when in theory and at first look the game looks amazing and appetizing, the interest and excitment wane and fizzle after a while because the core gameplay is simply not that great and is without much depth. Still, Thunder Lotus Games is certainly a company that can and, I believe, will keep on making great games so I will keep an eye on them.

A good story but the platforming felt out of place and sometimes it was tedious.

It is almost certainly a combination of life being abnormally hard and this game being abnormally sweet, but I cried ten minutes in to Spiritfarer when I was able to give my first hug.

So update on Spiritfarer. This game has obliterated my heart so far and really deals with death and letting go of loved ones across the board really really well. I have sobbed every time it's time to bring each spirit to the ever door to "move-on". I don't want to let these characters go. 5/5 so far for me.
