This is the most fun I've had playing a JRPG in a long time. The game is definitely not perfect, but I'm giving it 5 stars based on the "I loved it" hover text. I fell in love with this game before I even played it: when I heard the soundtrack. I had no interest in the XIII series until then, at which point I bought the first two games immediately. In comparison to its predecessor, this one is the better game. It's just immensely more fun, fluid, and charming to play. Most of the gripes I had about XIII's gameplay were resolved. The characters themselves didn't bother me; if you're used to anime, there's nothing different here. The fact that I was playing the Asia region version with Japanese voices might have something to do with the characters not annoying me... who knows (FWIW: I had no problem with Vanille either)

As for the story... eh. I've played through games entirely in Japanese and had no idea what's going on, but still rate them highly because they are fun (games are supposed to be fun, right?) So the confusing mess of a story here doesn't really bother me. It was goofy sometimes, but it fit the feel and atmosphere of the game.

Played another chunk of FF 13-2 over the weekend because 14 wasn't working. Getting bored of the stupid paradox puzzles...

Started to find my groove on FF 13-2 over the weekend. A little stuck on where to go next though.

Moved further on in FF13-2 over the weekend. I do enjoy the story. It's so cool that the FF writers aren't afraid to go seriously sci-fi. Still not a huge fan of the pet mechanic or character progression though.

Still trying to find a flow with this one. Everyone complained about the linearity of 13. The lack of it stresses me out in 13-2.

Played some more FF13-2 last night. Not sure how I feel about it but so far it isn't as good as the first.

Started FF 13-2 over the weekend. How did I not know there was a Pokemon mechanic in this too?
