I appreciate what the game is going for, but it is not for me. It is a cool twist on the tower defense genre and I like how the player can also actively participate, but the combat felt very empty (I know it probably gets better later on but at least at the start it was very mindless) and I …

It is a cool twist on the tower defense genre and I like how the player can also actively participate, but the combat felt very empty (I know it probably gets better later on but at least at the start it was very mindless) and I just don't love the tower defense genre. Everything looked very pretty too.

Kunitsu-gami is getting a one year anniversary goodie. All players will receive the Yashichi Waves Mazo Talisman. When equipped, the music may change into 8-bit retro versions such as this one.

Paging @BMO et al.

I just finished the fifth stage which gave me the shaman mask. My understanding is that you have to beat it again in NG+ to get the "true" ending. I'm torn between giving up or pushing through. I'm bored and at the same time feel like I don't know what I'm doing. But this …

I just finished the fifth stage which gave me the shaman mask. My understanding is that you have to beat it again in NG+ to get the "true" ending. I'm torn between giving up or pushing through. I'm bored and at the same time feel like I don't know what I'm doing. But this last boss didn't give me a hard time. Does the game change in significant ways or is this it the whole way?

I will certainly be playing this, because more Kunitsu-Gami is always welcome, but I’m not sure roguelike gameplay is what I really wanted from the DLC.

Y'all, I love you and I say this with nothing but fondness in my heart. This is absolutely a tower defense game. 😄

Whew!! Beta Raikobo mostly because he didn’t real Amy attack Yoshiro even when Soh died three times. Getting near the end here. The last two levels I’ve completed with a sliver of Yoshiro’s health remaining so I might be hitting that wall.

This was the year-end round up I was waiting for!

Infor graphic with the following information: EarlGrey42's Steam Replay 2024. 76 games played. 1,042 achievements. 1,118 sessions. 66 new games. Most played games by % of playtime: Dragon's Dogma II, Metaphore ReFantazio; Dragon Age The Veilguard; Kunitsu-Gami - PAth of hte Goddess; Hollow Knight.

I only played 76 games on Steam, which is probably a bit fewer than others, but a lot of them were some pretty lengthy games that took up a lot of my play time this year. In total I logged roughly 1323 hours on Steam games in 2024.

This year represented a huge shift in my game play habits. According to Steam, I played 40 more games on Steam than I did last year. I also unlocked 729 more achievements than I did last year, and that's without really doing nay achievement hunting.

69% of the games I played were also new releases which is a huge change for me because I'm usually balanced toward older games, which I think speaks volumes about the quality of games and my general excitement for those games in 2024.

Apparently my top two game genres/themes were Metroidvania and LGBTQ+

My busiest month was May, where I spent 100% of my time playing Dragon's Dogma II.

Last year my playtime was split around 50/50 Steam Deck and PC. This year PC dominated, representing 90% of my total playtime. That's still over 130 hours on Steam Deck, which is more than I put into Xbox and Switch games combined.

Steam Deck stats: I played 34 games on Steam Deck over a total of 211 sessions which 10% of my overall Steam gameplay time. 37% of my Steam Deck time went to Metaphor ReFantazio; 11% to Ultros; 10% to Hollow Knight; 6% to Batman Arkham knight and; 4% to Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The lack of at least an Art Direction nom for Kunitsu-Gami is a travesty.

One of my favourite little touches in Kunitau-Gami were traditional desserts you could unlock and then place on a plate for the maiden, who would then eat them over the course of time. Such a wonderful little cultural flourish.

Beat it, I could see myself returning if I’m looking for an aesthetic tower defense experience, but at the moment, I’ve lost steam when it comes to getting all the achievements.

As soothing as a balm as Shinsekai: Into the Depths is proving to be, I can’t stop thinking about Kunitsu-Gami. I was hyped for multiple games I played, and loved, this year but Kunitsu-Gami came out of nowhere and made an impact I wasn’t expecting. I hope Capcom keeps taking risks like this, continues to fund this team and teams like it, to continue giving us gems like Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.

There is something very relaxing about new game+ and the flexibility that having the full compliment of roles and skills available for each stage. I'm progressing through each level, clearing the new optional objectives, and having a blast. This is the second really satisfying new game+ available in a Capcom release this year.

Although you can only manually save at camp, the game is very generous with check-points, and even saves after dawn and dusk of each day during encounters, meaning you never have to worry that being interrupted will cost you progress during each stage. It makes for gaming sessions that are easy to pick up because the game is also easy to put down. It's very nice.
