It was pretty good for the price
This review is for the PlayStation 4 version

I got this game today on sale on PS5 for just $0.59. For the price, it was worth the experience.

I have always been compelled at how cults work, how they can control people. It is scary and fascinating. Sagebrush was a short experience looking into the lives of a group of people who devoted their beings to a man's ideals. It showed how little by little things turned out for the worse.

It is a game on the slow side, more a walking simulator and a key hunting game. For me this was fine, because I was into piecing out the story. The only thing is that I wish I had notice that I could run in the game sooner. I spent about half of it, slowly walking back and forth... I even fell asleep once. After I noticed I could run, it was a piece of cake.

Short creepy experience. Well made, although there was nothing extraordinary about it.

Atmospheric psx walking sim

Sagebrush is a well made walking sim with a psx art style, where you explore the aftermath of a cult gone wrong. Its slow methodical narrative is interesting, and the little gameplay offered is well executed. But… it’s a walking sim, so hard to rate any higher.

The puzzles here are fun to solve. They pretty much are always keys and doors, but there’s a couple that take some logic and thinking which I enjoyed. The way the game slowly reveals the dark side of the cult as you explore was also very well done and interesting. The atmosphere is legit creepy at times as well.

If you want a 1-2 hour walking sim in a unique cult environment, there’s not many games that fit the bill. It’s enjoyable enough even for me, who tends to not click with the genre, so it’s worth looking into.

she told me she could tell i had a hole in my life. she also had a hole, but it was gone now.

I AM SUCH A HUGE FAN OF THIS GAME. i have played it through twice now, initially on my girlfriends account and then on mine due to how much i loved it >.< even after playing it through twice, this game continues to make me feel on edge CONSTANTLY through out the whole play through. there are some wonderful homages to the original resident evil games and also silent hill (as quoted above) and the only games that truly make me feel this level of anxiety are old school 90s-2000s games with low poly graphics which sagebrush did such a fantastic job of imitating. it perfectly encapsulated not only the experience of being in a cult and how someone vulnerable could be manipulated into joining that lifestyle, but also the repercussions after it and how your experience is now something you carry with you throughout all aspects of your life, cropping up wether you like it or not.

amazing and very poignant soundtrack that has been delicately placed only where it is necessary. otherwise all youre getting …

i would highly recommend if youre looking for an evening of anxiety and beautifully voice acted storytelling ^_^
