True Fear is just one of the greatest horror point and click games ever made. It works on so many levels, with fun puzzling, an interesting story, and great visual design. And unlike so many games, it understands that the more interactivity and puzzles, the better,
The gameplay, which is most important, is outstanding. It’s got a nice mix of inventory and logic puzzles, and is structured so you have 10-20 puzzles all layered at one time. You get to explore many rooms, and constantly discover solutions while also finding new problems. There is excellent quality of features as well, with fine-tuned settings depending on the level of challenge you like (I went with the hardest difficulty),
It’s got nice detailed illustrations, fantastic mood-setting music, full 3D rendered cutscenes, and a story that really sets the mood. There is a part two I’ve never played and part 3 is releasing in just a few days- I can’t wait to finish the trilogy! Let’s see how part 2 compares to this masterpiece.
Definitely the better hidden object game I've played. It's not scary but does achieve its atmosphere pretty well. Cut scenes are a bit poor, but hey, it's a hidden object game.
Part 2 was just released today on the eShop (demos are available for both part 1 and 2, and you can directly continue where you left off when you buy the full version). Really really enjoying this. Getting strong The Room vibes (minus the complex machines but plus the mystery and storytelling).
I typically enjoy point-n-clicks but for whatever reason, play them very rarely. This is proving to be a great purchase for $10.
Highly recommend if you're into some psychological horror and enjoy point-n-clicks. Fun little digital sidepiece.
