The rumors are true: the game doesn’t push the main plot forward all that much. However, it does significantly expand on its cast, which is where it really shines.

Gameplay-wise, not much has changed from Daybreak I, and that’s perfectly fine. They did attempt to introduce a time-travel, plot-driven mechanic, but it mostly ends up feeling like a “forced-to-watch-bad-endings” feature. In some cases, it even flirts with inconsistent characterizations because of how it’s implemented.

I get that the game is meant to reuse a lot of content from the first one, since it takes place in the same location and setting, but some scenarios feel too recycled. For example, the Gardenmaster’s Dungeon is basically the same as the previous game’s final dungeon. It gives the whole thing a slightly cheapened feel.

The music, as always, is top-tier.

Story-wise, most of the game works really well. I’m deeply in love with this cast, so getting more development for each character was genuinely beautiful. Some of them really needed that extra spotlight. Act III, though, has a bit of an identity crisis, which isn’t helped by some muddled storylines—Cao’s route in particular didn’t fully land for me. On the flip side, others …

On the flip side, others were excellent and absolutely necessary, like Renne’s and of course Quatre’s.

The final boss was a bit of a letdown, but it does set up the next entries in the series pretty strongly.

Overall, it’s a good game if you approach it as an expansion to Daybreak I rather than a full sequel.

And I can't believe that I am caught up with the localized releases! That is insane. I started playing Trails in the Sky in 2020 during COVID pandemic, never thought I would be here twelve games later.

Fixed some issues, mild personal concern though

Fixed the weird hidden turn order issue from Daybreak one, only real concern is the further implementation of the optional action rpg elements especially with it being forced in the final boss fight. Anything further is my minor pet peeves of the series as a whole not specific to this entry (ie. assumed multiple playthroughs)

Otherwise loved it, hella strong entry in this series easily still a strong contender for my personal fav arc (vs. Crossbell's SSS)

How I love this franchise. I know this installment wasn't as legendary as the previous one, but it's still a 10/10 game.enter image description here

Not a disaster but not exactly triumph over previous series

SPOILERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The game too freaking long !

The gist is ( IMO ), the main story and plot was all over the place , it just one thing after another without really moving the actual plot but all that's hours spend for characters built up an progression . The time travel shenanigans further weakens the plots ! yikes.

But nearly all the casts from the 1st series return and more screens times , even the side characters. Im not kidding cutscene alone about 30hours-ish T-T I have to spam le buttons !

I freaking love SHIZUNA . aside from being smoking hot, but she so carefree and funny most of the time , and stole the screen every time she up ! (Lucrezia my 2nd fav , those duskglaive are cheating ! also mommy)

Anyway long story short - if u a fan of the series, u just had to sit through and play it. No choice or roundbout way for it.

i didnt really dig it... actually one of the weakest for me, i prob wont touch it anymore. Like i said, the game drags too long with repetitions due to " ahhh shiet im dead, time please be …

  • Combat is fun. There are new mechanic like Quick Arts, Cross Charge counters, and EX-Skills
  • Extra power up via Marchen Garten ( its kinda a drag and tedious honestly )
  • Minigames ( barely touch it)
  • Load of teammates to choose from.

Oh well, im a sucker for the series, ofc i will play the 3rd installment :) enjoy the games !

Anyone play this on Switch? Is performance acceptable? Don't really care if it's perfect. Wondering if I should take the gamble that it will also release on Switch 2 at some point. PS5 and Steam are out of the question for me. Can't stand playing RPGs on stationary systems anymore.

Finished everything I want to do for a first playthrough on this game, Overall it a 7/10 for me, 8/10 on a good day. The combat clicked with me and I love that but it story shows how it was a year after Kuro 1, Still has that Trails magic so it still is worth playing. I plan on going NG+ when reverie is out later this year and i do the replay on the English version.

So remember when I said I was taking a trails break, yea that only lasted a week. In my defense, I want to play another game alongside P3P (I am not dropping it, and I can play it at school on the days I have to stay there for a bit), I plan on starting it tonight, and then after that I may do Star Ocean or Utawarerumono prelude to the fallen (depends what I get done first p3p or kuro 2).
