Life by the Seaside
A wholesome free visual novel that has about 10 hours worth of content in the base game that can be expanded upon with paid DLC. I only experienced the free version but I am interested in getting the DLC now that I've finished it.

The story follows your life growing up in a seaside town. There are four chapters, each taking place in summer during your childhood, adolescence, late teens, and adulthood. Your choices mostly determine your relationships but there are moments of character and environment customization. There are many dialogue choices throughout that gives the player a lot of control over who they are, their preferences, interests, and how they interact with their family and friends.
I have very few complaints but I'll mention that the voice acting in this game was sparce and unnecessary. I didn't think it added much value to the game. I also found it a bit disappointing the character creator gives you allowance to choose your appearance but your character is never shown nor are your physical traits mentioned much in the dialogue. Also this game isn't Steam Deck Verified which is a HUGE bummer.
This game gives you a lot of choice with whether you want to pursue romance or not. It also has LGBTQIA+ and disability representation. I found it the perfect game to close out the summer with and if you're looking for a cozy reading experience on a budget, this might be the perfect choice for you.
And if you do end up playing it and want more, you're in luck! The developers have announced a new autumn-themed sequel called Our Life: Now and Forever. I cannot wait to play it.
