FPS - Players assume the role of Harvest Runners, survivors who venture out into the wasteland to gather resources and fight against the snowbreed to ensure humanity's survival.
PROS:
++ Exhilarating gameplay. At its core, After The Fall is a VR version of Left 4 Dead. And for the most part, I think it did a great job of translating that style into a VR format. The gunplay felt great, and it felt amazing to dual-wield pistols shooting in different directions. There are a handful of guns to unlock, and any loadout can work. There's a decent amount of Snowbreed (zombies) variety that will keep the player on their toes and keep you moving. And the normal Snowbreed are quite fast and can close in quickly which makes for really exhilarating and tense combat situations! I also loved the scenarios when zombies would be pouring out everywhere. I felt thrilled fighting against overwhelming odds.
++ Good amount of content. After the Fall has nine levels, and each are about 30-45 minutes in length. There are five difficulty levels to play (Survival, Veteran, Master, Nightmare, Horror) that make a noticeable difference. There are guns, gun attachments, and outfits to unlock. It …

It can be quite grindy unlocking these things, but if you enjoy the core gameplay, the process shouldn't feel too laborious. There is also a horde mode, PVP mode, and a Mutated Run mode that you can play to mix things up.
++ Visuals and atmosphere. The game looks great! Solid atmospheric lighting indoors, and great vistas outdoors. The sound design overall is also decent and at times even creeped me out when I was in cramped indoor spaces. I can imagine the game looking even better on the highest graphical settings.
CONS:
-- Technical performance. Zombies frequently clipped through walls, and at times, would spawn and get stuck behind a wall preventing forward progress. There was also a glitch in which my height would increase, but this didn't affect the gameplay too much.
-- Subpar friendly AI. Since there are few lobbies to join, I had to play the levels solo. This would have been fine but the AI can be quite bad. They often lag behind. They're always a bit late to start shooting. And in boss encounters, they would never revive me. So if I go down, the mission would almost always end in failure.
-- Limited inventory. The player can only carry two items at a time. This includes healing, attack boosts, floppy disks used for upgrades, and grenades. Because of limited inventory, I always had to leave behind precious items. The AI partners can't carry additional items either.
-- No melee. It would have been nice to have one or two melee weapons so that the player can have the choice of going up close and personal.
-- No story. There's a loose narrative that ties the first five levels together, but it's nothing substantial.
When playing VR, sometimes it's hard to tell if the FPS drops are caused by the game's bad technical performance or if it's because of my PC. Most of the time, it's just my PC.
I think I need to beef up my PC for these PCVR games to really shine. Right now I'm playing After The Fall on Medium quality and I still experience occasional drops in frame rate. I don't want to lower it because the game just looks ugly on Low. This game probably looks amazing on High, because I'm already quite impressed of the visuals on Medium.
This is why I had to drop Half Life: Alyx. I could only run the game on Low/Medium, but it's a game where the experience is enhanced with better graphics.
To any PCVR players, do you have any tips? I have a 2070 right now. Is there a graphics card that I should start saving up for? Preferably something that's not ludicrously expensive.
