No matter how many times I re-measured, Rec Room would make my avatar 4'10" or shorter. There's no way to input your height manually for some reason. The main menu, which takes the form of a watch so that you can open it by holding your watch in front of your face, would only open if I held my arm smack against my face and if I moved my head to read it, would disappear. My character was also stuck in a crouching position. This may also be an issue caused by the incorrect height.

Ignoring all this, entered a few hangout rooms with my friend. A few of the rooms I recognized from VR Chat. Some of the rooms were plagued with objects that you couldn't interact with unless you paid with in-game currency, such as a plushie my avatar wasn't allowed to pick up unless I paid for it.

Admittedly I didn't spend much time with Rec Room as I was having such a clunky onboard experience with it. Just felt like time I could've spent playing VR Chat instead.

from wanting to take a break from the shooter genre i felt a need to go somewhere more public. a lot of games are "online" but yet none really require that player to player interaction. in search of wanting a bit of socialising behind a screen (good idea, i know) i decided to try rec room. and by god i wouldnt reccomend it to anyone. i want to mention your experience is subjective on online games so maybe dont take everything too litrally. i also went in with the mature setting on. i didnt want to run into children the entire day. okay now the only way im gonna put this game is by saying i reccomend it to no one. and i mean no one. if you have a group od 5 friends then yes but going in alone is terrible. The biggest issue with the game is its audience. in the day time your still met with children who have been given their ipad while their mom does something. all babble and no english what so ever. in the night time though. oh golly gosh. you have people chucking racist slurs like their playing hot patatoe and people plugging their sound cloud like they have the aux on a car drive. so i can imagine kids really learning alot of terrible language even at times like 7pm. the monitoring is terrible and really should be noted. im suprised no one has called them out for this and its upsetting to see everyone walk around it with the opinion it is good. really really scary what children could easily pick up from these people. i tried vrchat after and that was way more friendlier despite looking more targeted at an older audience. word should be spreaded around this isnt for kids. so if you can share word around, that will help greatly.

People in the lobby seemed friendly. Would like to play it again.
