I'd never played a game like this before, and it was pretty neat. Actually finished it!

Open Roads was not as good as Gone Home, but I give it so, so much credit for being a video game with a story about mothers and daughters. Like if Amy Tan wrote a video game. We need more games that evoke things like that. Beautiful performances from Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever.

Short game about a mother and daughter who go on a road trip to reveal a family secret. Walk around places, read short notes and postcards. I played it in one sitting. It works well, except for a small audio glitch.

I like the way the mother-daughter relationship develops, and a whole game where there is not a single man on screen and four female protagonists have the stage to themselves was so refreshing. I would normally give this game 3 stars, but for overachieving in the Bechdel test I add an extra shiny 4th star.
There is not much gameplay, it is a walking simulator, the game shines in its dialogue.
The German translations of the texts you find are not always accurate, but not too bad either.
I would say that the game's main audience might be younger than me, but there was never a moment when I felt too old for it.
Definitely worth a try if you have Game Pass. 16 Euros on Steam, and that's a sale price with 15% off, is a bit much. If I had to buy it, I would probably wait for the 9.99 price.
