pros: free 2 play, plenty of unlockable vehciles, cool arcade and simulation modes and xray testing of weapons (also ability to config your weapons to some extent based on your R&D unlocks)
cons: difficulty and match ups in large due to outranking different tanks available (meaning if you pay you get access to better vehciles that will dominate everyone else) …

thought this was a lot cooler over World of Tanks due to simulated aspects of damage, slope, etc. (havent seen another game do all this or pay it any mind, and its fun to simulate by having arcade shoot outs!)

I'm having a hard time telling you if i like or dislike War Thunder. The game is F2P and has a lot going for it (if you don't count the playerbase) but that's not really why I'm writing this review.

In war thunder you drive military vechiles in combat against other players. There is plenty of nations to choose from and they'll each most likely have something the player likes.
What brings WT down from a 3 to a 2 in my book is how easy it is to spend money on it. Want your high tier matches to be profitable? Better have premium time so you get that extra payout or you'll not cover repairs. The grind feeling sluggish? Buy this 60$ tank and earn 300% rewards while driving it.
The game is designed to make you want to spend money. Take it from someone who has over 1400h in the game and has spent at least 4000 USD on WT and still has not progressed through all the tiers of unlocks.. Stay away. lmao
But if you can look past that, it is one of the best combat sims out there, be it for tanks or planes.

Holy shit this game is more pay to win than COD and tries harder than Apex Legends to grab your money. No matter what game mode, you face against paying players with paid for planes or tanks. Holy shit this game is more pay to win than COD and tries harder than Apex Legends to grab your money. No matter what game mode, you face against paying players with paid for planes or tanks. This wouldn't be a problem except that at the beginning of the game with your starter plane, your facing a player with a maxed out A-7E.
Pay to win aside, love flying the planes, feels very natural and easy to fly. Very fun to fly as well. Whether its dogfighting or doing bombing runs, flying in this game is fun. No need for a flying sim or joystick to enjoy, MnK and controller both work well.
If only this game wasn't so pay to win.

+nice graphics
+variety of vehicles in aire/land
+realistic vehicle characteristics
-game promotes camping and in general "defensive gaming"
-matches can be incredibly boring due to lack of action.
-RIDICULOUS time investment for grinding is mandatory
-unbalance between teams/nations/BR is a pain in the ass
