Yoku’s Island Express is an open world/metroidvania-style pinball adventure, Seamlessly blending platform navigation with pinball mechanics across a large open world. Yoku the dung beetle sets foot on the beach of Mokumana Island, ready to take on the duties as the new postman. But the ancient island God is trapped in a restless sleep and the islanders are plagued by quakes and storms brought forth by its nightmares. Yoku's Island Express is a unique and quirky adventure with handcrafted visuals, where you'll soar through the air, vacuum explosive snails, fight a Screetch, feed starving lemurs, discover the mystery of the Fruit Altar, wake an old god, and hopefully help tiny Yoku rebuild the island post-office. Odio los putos pinball y aun así lo recomiendo. Eso sí, prefiero blind hollow knight full parry que intentar pasarme esto sin morir.

This one is one of those indie games that feel like something new. It combine metroidvania and pinball mechanics... and it works! The game itself is made with care, and it is pretty fun.

Started right now. Pinball platformer sounds like an interesting combination, and the main character is cute.

I've already decided this is the game I'll start next. Looks like pretty fun, and pinball mechanics sound original.

A fun combination of pinball and metroidvania. Great artwork and I enjoyed unlocking new areas of the map. A fun combination of pinball and metroidvania. Great artwork and I enjoyed unlocking new areas of the map. Unfortunately a lot of backtracking is required and I eventually got to a point where I couldn't figure out what else to do to unlock new areas. I would have liked to continue it, but it's not the type of game that lends itself well to a walkthrough.

Works flawlessly on Steamdeck.

Fun. A different take on a platformer. I liked it and so did my 12 year old. Catchy theme song.

A creative and charming blend of the pinball and metrodvania genres. Nice music tracks but it desperately needs a more convenient fast travel system.

I also experienced a couple of game crashes and frequent slowdowns, even when it doesn't look like a title that requires that much GPU.

Completed on PC, 6 hours.

I have a soft spot for pinball video games, so it was only a matter of time before I picked up the highly-praised Yoku's Island Express. In this game you're a dung beetle pushing around a pinball ball, and you just go around from one area to the other by playing pinball. You can't jump; you have to shoot yourself upward with pinball flippers. It all reminded me of Sonic Spinball, a game I played a lot of as a kid (along with all the other Sonics on Genesis). But this one controls much better, and has a lot more places to explore. I didn't particularly love the art style, but it is a pretty-looking environment.

Ultimately this is a game that is just about exploring, pretty much. You look for stuff and try to get yourself to tricky areas with your pinball skills. There isn't really any penalty for playing poorly. (You might lose some fruit... but you'll get ten times as much fruit within the next minute.) It's just a chill game to play until you get bored, which I did shortly after completing the story. (It's nothing special, don't get too excited.) I didn't care to go for all the collectibles once I had seen all the different areas of the island. But if I'm ever in the mood to just dink around in a pinball world again, I'll roll back over to Yoku's island for a bit.

Boy, and here I thought Yoku's Island Express was like a kids game and then they go and drop a term like God Slayer on me outta nowhere. This is just Hollow Knight for kids.

Yoku's Island Express is perfection. I will not be taking questions on this matter. I have decided he is the best pinball playing mailman dung beetle ever, so there. 10/10. My GOTY.
