Little changes between the frequent releases of Lego games. The small incremental refinements in the formula that has proven so successful can lead to a sense of monotony. Minimal changes to gameplay from the series inception, along with steady, incremental evolution in mechanics and presentation can quickly lead to a sense of franchise fatigue. Whereas Lego games are always a safe bet for light-hearted innocent fun, each entry stands or falls on the strength of the underlying source material. The four films featured from the Jurassic Park franchise offers plenty of great moments.

What Lego games have always excelled at is offering a relaxing and amusing take on well-known properties. Jurassic World plays the same as other recent Lego games, the only difference being that this one has dinosaurs. Each game is divided into six sections, and not all sections are even. Much of this unevenness can be attributed to the source materials. However, the game is able to make even the most lackluster entry in the movie series entertaining. While the core game is relatively simple, some of the extra objectives in between levels offers a greater challenge. The basic game objectives can be completed quickly, the game's length being determined by how close the player approaches 100% completion. The meat of the game is found outside the basic objectives, but outside of playing levels with out of place characters, the extra objectives offers little novelty.

Lego: Jurassic World does not offer anything new. It does not offer gameplay that one has not encountered in any number of other Lego games. While it offers a light-hearted spin on the familiar Jurassic Park movies, it does not offer any insight that could not be gained by watching the films. Reaching full completion requires repeatedly playing the same levels to access all the locked areas and collect all the Gold Bricks and Mini-Fig pieces. On the surface this appears to be monotonous. However, like other Lego games, the generally relaxing and fun take on a beloved franchise. It may not offer enough outside of completionists to achieve 100%, but however far one desires to advance on the completion meter, one is guaranteed a good time.
