the 1.0 release happened and i'm kinda disappointed about the full release state of the game so i had to rework my review for dungeons of edera. i can't recommend it anymore at this point since the technical state of the game is still disastrous and nobody knows if this will change sooner or later.
what i liked:
1.0 is done and the game got almost all of the issues which bothered me in early access. still giving credits to a dedicated solo developer for his work.
many different weapons, spells and other specialities, so there is a wide range of possible playstyles. although many weapons feel the same. neat class diversity and a completely open skill tree. specialise in whatever you prefer, mix up some classes, talents and a lot of freedom in build variety.
changing talents is free in the hub at any point in the game.
what felt debatable to me:
~ lack of enemy variety, at least as far as i went into the …

~ making an item "soulbound" is way too expensive. if you don't, the item is lost when playing on an actual diffculty.
strong textwhat i disliked:
the combat system got some decent ideas and basics, well and that's it. everything's beyond janky with sluggish controls and the terrible technical performance shoots the final bullet. i don't have fun fighting and since fighting is one of the few selling points d.o.e. has to offer, it's a huge disappointment.
the games performance is so bad, it's borderline unplayable at this point. sadly 1.0 didn't change a thing. my fps are totally fine, ranging from high 60 to 100 and above, but the game is still lagging out like crazy. lowering the graphic settings won't change anything and it's almost unplayable on some maps. very frustrating in a game, where reactions are key and death is punishing. this got nothing to do with my hardware by any means.
even tho the maps are random generated, they're basically always the same. they have to work a lot on their dungeon designs to change up things for each dungeon run. (can't say much about this since 1.0, but the game got so many issues, i can't force myself playing multiple maps)
physics are garbage and corpses flying around like sky rockets. got better at some point, but physics are still utter wonky. would've been a better decision to scrap it completely.
a lot of glitched objects and textures all over the place. enemies running through walls and getting stuck there. sadly not much good here as well with the 1.0 release. did a run and several enemies went into the walls again.
still not a huge fan of the ui, but it's acceptable.
using a controller in menus is horrific.
the chance of looting herbs is too low.
trivia:
reworked my dungeons of edera review after the 1.0 release happenend and sadly i cannot recommend it anymore. basically all of the issues are still in the game and the game's performance / polishing is in a horrendous state. the developer may be dedicated, but this game is far from being finished and requieres at least a half year up to a year or even more polish. the core of the game might be decent and ambitious, but this isn't a 1.0 i could ever recommend in all honesty.
