Finished the game. What a slog. I realized that the main flaw I was struggling with was being forced to pickup basic items like ammo and health. In of itself this isn't bad, but when that button is the same as the reload button and the pickup weapon button, it makes it a complete nightmare in the middle of combat. I kept mashing the X button hoping to get more ammo and health and armor but that would screw me up for reloading too soon, or just get in the way of picking up the heavy weapons. Bad design.

I think I have decided this is a mediocre game at best, with an interesting world and set of characters. Wolfenstein II just isn't really fun to play but I like watching it.

The gameplay feels like it is stuck in some awful middle ground between Doom and Call of Duty. It isn't willing to go as far as Doom with its unique monsters and combat mechanics. Yet it's combat isn't as realistic focused as Call of Duty to worry about limited weapon choices and tactics. The weapons are super dull. All the enemies wear jet black armor or are robots, and any interesting designs are lost in the dark environs. I think I will see it through to the end but I am just rushing through to see the next cutscene.

I liked that game. Just pure story-based FPS game like i always wanted after such a long time waiting.

I really like the story of Wolfenstein 2. Never played the first one and the recap didn't help me understand much. But the story is neat so far and I really like all the different characters.
But I don't think I like the combat. The shooting doesn't feel right, like my bullets are affecting the enemy until they are dead. …

But I don't think I like the combat. The shooting doesn't feel right, like my bullets are affecting the enemy until they are dead. The weapons so far are all too similar. Having to press a button to pick up items in the middle of a firefight also sucks. Not sure if I want to keep pushing through.

am curious to see a few reviews on grouvee for this. I figure I will enjoy it as least as much as W:tNO just based on the setting alone but ign gave this a very high review and I wonder if it actually deserves it. Steam reviews as usual are hard to decode aside from "If Bethesda be wary of …
