It is the semi-sequel to 2009's Wolfenstein, however utilizes very little from the game and drops any direct references to veil or supernatural. To progress through the story, the player battle enemies throughout levels. The game utilizes a health system in which players' health is divided into separate sections that regenerate; if an entire section is lost, the player must use a health pack to replenish the missing health. In combat, a cover system can be used as assistance against enemies. The player have the ability to lean around, over, and under cover, which can be used as a tactical advantage during shootouts and stealth levels. The game gives the player a wide variety of weapon options—they can be found on the ground, retrieved from dead enemies, or removed from their stationary position and carried around. Read less

This was today's Gamepass pick for my Xbox. Nice solid shooter. I'm weird with my shooters in that I don't like them unless they have sci-fi elements or some other unique hook (think Bioshock, Resistance: Fall of Man, and the Metro games). Haven't really played a lot of the Wolfenstein games though. Action is quick and over the top. I …

I decided to drop Wolfenstein to my "I'm never finishing this list after trying out Titfanfall 2 because... wow, I almost forgot that a FPS could be fun and intense!

Loving this so far. I started playing this because I tracked down Jens Andersson, lead designed on 2 games I loved: The Darkness and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. On Mobygames it shows that he did some design on this Wolfenstein game and, although I've never played any of the Wolfenstein games, I figured it might have his touch. And it sure does. Moments of action are broken up by story, lots of stuff to read, and exploraion much like those 2 aformentioned games. So far it hasn't been just run-n-gun. I'm not 100% sold on the combat, though. It's servicable, and often fun, but sometimes can be frustrating. I'm spoiled by modern guns in games, having also just played Titanfall 2. These are WWII era guns, no crazy scopes or holo-sights to be seen (yet). So iron sights will have to do. Still really enjoying though.

Won't lie....the game is kinda boring me as we near the end and the sex scenes are 100% unnecessary.

Been a while since I played an FPS. I seem to play about one a year, with F.E.A.R. and Borderlands being the last two I finished. Grabbed the "new" Wolfenstein on sale for $5 and I am really enjoying it so far.

A bit sick of the "alone in space" mood of prey so I've moved on to this amazing piece of work.

Pretty to look at, WtNO is full of pathos, impossible action (including on the moon!) and contains cool, human characters. It's got an old Jewish guy with a Yiddish accent!

What more can you ask for?

Wolfenstein: The New Order: Has anyone actually played this? I was watching the AGDQ speedrun and it actually looks like lots of fun. I've never even seen gameplay footage of it til yesterday, I wasn't really paying attention when it was released because I assumed it was just another Wolfenstein-branded cash grab.

Between the old school gunplay, excellent story, killer sound design, pleasing almost Dishonored-esque visuals, and rock solid port to PC, this one was a standout in a way that I was never expecting. If you've played Wolfenstein 3D, you'll appreciate the small nods to it, and even if you're new to the franchise this one stands on its own. It's not innovative in the way that Bioshock was almost a decade ago, but it's still a masterful title that pushes the bounds of storytelling in a first-person shooter, and lightyears better than the 2009 Wolfenstein game. The campy and super serious elements feel at odds with each other at times, and it almost makes the game feel like it was the product of two different visions being forced together into one game (much like Bioshock Infinite), but it's a rare game to impress me more as it goes on rather than starting out great and losing steam. The story brought me to tears a few times, and while it's not the only title to do this, it's certainly not common for a game to succeed that thoroughly in storytelling. Definitely one not to miss, BJ's latest and hopefully not last adventure gets a solid 9/10.

First post here, just getting started.

Finished Wolfenstein: The New Order last night. First time playing a game from the series, and I was impressed. Story idea and plot were very interesting to me, and the graphics were above average.
