I mean, it is very much a rip off of Halo, with the main novel idea being to bring Portal mechanics in. But they really nail the Halo gameplay. It is very polished gunplay and movement. Maps are interesting. Using the portals really does change the game and makes going back to normal shooters feel really limiting. It's clear that this is a small developer with a novel game though: the menus are a bit janky compared to AAA titles, the battle pass is confusing, aesthetics are a bit lackluster. And although they copy basically all of the game modes from Halo, it would be better if they also included some of their own that really take advantage of portals in some way (though I don't have any specific ideas off the top of my head). I really enjoyed my first 10 hours or so when I was low rank and was obliterating everyone. I kept thinking "holy cow... I finally found the FPS that I'm best at" but then I got to the rank where I'm playing people of my own skill level (which isn't particularly high) and the game started to feel like most other competitive multiplayer games to me, meaning it wasn't quite as fun.

Splitgoat

Really fun FPS. Portals allow for a practically infinite number of gameplay permutations with a really high skill ceiling, and an ever-raising skill floor. The gunplay is totally Halo, which is awesome. The online is solid, and ranked is also really fun.
