First of all, did you know Rebellion made AVP? Indeed, it made multiple AVP games as well as many other movie tie-ins. Even something called "Dredd vs Zombies". Wow.
Anyway, as you might imagine from a 20 year old game (!!), it is fairly primitive. The visuals, controls, menus - none have aged well. The gameplay is simple - walk a bit, try to be clever, inevitably fail and end up in a shootout.
Even just Sniper Elite 2 was a massive improvement compared to this, which makes sense because it was released seven years later. Even compared to contemporary games like Half-Life 2 and Hitman: Blood Money this is a pretty poor game. Still, it's fun to see where it all started. The kill cam doesn't have the "x-ray function" yet, but it's there. While very linear it does tend to offer one or two alternative paths. And you can blow up a tank with a single shot, which is hilarious. But yeah, i wouldn't have recommended this even a decade ago, let alone now.
