It’s a gacha game

It’s a mobile gangs game. It was actually my first and only fire emblem for a few years because I didn’t have a gaming console. I now play on and off, and I’ve never spent money in the game. It’s enjoyable enough to check in when I’m waiting for a class to start or something.

DO NOT play if you have trouble with gambling. That’s what gacha is.

If you want to see old characters with new art and voice lines, the game is great. The newer story books also aren’t bad.

I am in a toxic relationship with this game. I've been playing it every day since 2017, and have spent enough money in those five years to send a child to college.

But I love it!

very basic mobile game

Nothing new here. Dumbed down fire emblem experience. More generous than most other mobile games I've tried but that doesn't make it fun or a good game.

I think as far as conversion to a mobile (only) game, this is as good as it gets. It is just lacking some of the complexities that make Fire Emblem challenging. But it is almost what I wanted.

2 stars for a mobile game is great. It makes it like the Iliad of mobile games.

I really enjoy it

People really seem to want to judge this game for what it isn't rather than what it is.

  • Unit-building has more depth than mainline FE games, and of course there are a lot more units choose from
  • No you probably can't collect every character...even in a mainline game with ~50 characters this is hard to do, let alone a game with >700
  • Naturally the maps are smaller on a phone, FE4-style sprawling maps would be silly
  • You don't need to spend a lot of time or money to enjoy it

It's not for everyone and it's not without flaws, but as a pleasant 15-minute per day diversion I find it ideal.

A Pretty Cow Clicker

The art is good but otherwise it is a very boring and rudimentary free-to-play mobile game. I like Fire Emblem but this does not feel like FE in any way more than basic fan service.

Ehh
This review is for the iPhone version

I’m not much for mobile games but if you really like fire emblem this is probably a good game for you. I have only played three houses so I am not familiar with all the characters. Unless it has changed you don’t need to pay much for it.

Fire Emblem + Gacha

As a fan of the Fire Emblem series, at first I thought that I will play this game forever and will be my only mobage. But these are the reasons why I decided to stop playing:

  1. It's a gacha game and it has LIMITED CHARACTERS. Ofc it's a gacha game. I don't mind if it's a gacha game. But personally I don't like limited character thing. I'm not rich, so I'm pretty sure I won't get all those limited characters. I have spent a quite large amount of money just to get those chars, and I won't do it again.
  2. It's a gacha game and new characters will always added. This new characters have a better skill than some characters. And the old ones are stuck with skills that may not be a meta anymore. Ofc that's how it is, if not, the players won't spend money for the developer and publisher to earn profit.
  3. I love Fire Emblem series. I haven't played all of it, but the game's perma death, support links, gameplay, and character's progression (leveling up, stats, promotion) in FE6, 7, 8, 11, 12, and 13 made me love the game. But the mobage version is repetitive …

Because it's repetitive, I soon get bored. If you get bored, you won't want to spent more time to play the game.

Yup. It's a mobile game.

I'm writing as a fan of the Fire Emblem series, while freely admitting I haven't played many mobile games. The Fire Emblem part of this game feels great. All the heroes are colorfully drawn with unique voice acting for each one. Building teams and fighting battles requires strategy, but not so much that it would be a distraction if you were playing this game for just a few minutes at a time.

The "mobile game" part of this game though was ultimately unappealing to me. It hits many of the same sour notes I have experienced with other mobile games. There is pressure built in to the game to do certain things in a certain amount of time. There is also pressure to spend real money on micro-transactions. It is not blatantly a pay-to-win type of game where they dangle expensive power-ups in front of the players' noses. Instead they monetize the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality by making it virtually impossible to unlock all the heroes from all the Fire Emblem games without spending lots of real money. This can be especially painful if there are heroes from your favorite games you would like to add to your roster. …

Instead they monetize the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality by making it virtually impossible to unlock all the heroes from all the Fire Emblem games without spending lots of real money. This can be especially painful if there are heroes from your favorite games you would like to add to your roster. All you can do is buy in-game currency and then use it to unlock 1-5 random heroes at a time. Each time you spend currency to unlock a hero there is also the possibility of getting multiple copies of the same hero which further waters down your chances of unlocking anyone worthwhile with your cash transactions. So good luck building your dream team in any practical sense.

If you are careful with the little bit of in-game currency they give you for free, and especially if you are a fan of the Fire Emblem series as a whole, this game is worth some time. The story writing though is not at the same level as the retail titles, the maps are a great deal smaller, and the whole thing just has that "mobile game" smell to it.

deepdoop's review of Fire Emblem Heroes

Rating: 8.5/10

Like Super Mario Run, I'm reviewing it based on how it functions as a mobile game, not how it compares to a core entry in the series. To do so is just downright silly because it was never meant to be the next full Fire Emblem, because that would be Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot.

No, it doesn't have some of the features of the recent Fire Emblems on 3DS, and it has been simplified as a series of battles with little in the way of narrative or other stuff to do. You can complete the story, do monthly challenges to get items/things to upgrade, battle friends/other people online. You use orbs, which you can buy, to summon heroes and they're pretty rare. The game consists of bite-sized battles on a single screen that generally has 4v4 but can include more as the game gets harder.

So that's what it is, and with expectations tempered, I really dig it. I was into Run as well for what it was offering, and it's the same here. I don't know how long I will keep playing it, but since it came out I've played it a fair bit, often …

I don't know how long I will keep playing it, but since it came out I've played it a fair bit, often playing at work or when I'm just sitting at home doing nothing. It gives me tactical and fun small battles to pass time, and the grinding hasn't bothered me too much so far.

This is all it's meant to be, and as far as I'm concerned they succeeded. Maybe I'm easy to please when it comes to this, but it doesn't come across as intrusive and it has already provided me with a lot of entertainment.

I had to score down this game, from 3 to 2 stars. Some of the new units are stupidily broken that to use any other unit makes no sense. I can't figure what they were thinking when they create them, but I guess they were cracking up.

Well - I've done it. Thanks to her refine and a recent Hall of Forms where I was able to get her some of the best skills in the game, and a banner featuring her because of the refine, I have finished my last Lyn. I don't expect her to ever get another one, so this has been a journey! Lyn

This week kind of sucked for arena and aether raids. Had to use a +1 Female Shez as my bonus unit in arena, and while she had some good skills on her and kind of kicked ass, she didn't score high enough and I got kicked out of T21 with about 2 hours to go in the week. Next week won't be any better because of this stupid 2-week cycle they're on.

Aether raids was just a disaster in general. Used any unit I wanted to and still made a bunch of boneheaded mistakes.

The good news is, Summer Lyn's Hall of Forms event recently and her current refine and new power banner mean I'm ONE MERGE away from having every Lyn at +10. So closeeeeee....

Stayed in T21 easy this week, and for the first time I decided to give a shit about Aether Raids and almost made it to T38. Ended at T37, most likely because my lift loss from having bad defense sunk me.

I hope they erase Summoner Duels from the game soon.

This team was so fun to use in Arena this week. F!Lyn with bonus stats can basically solo the map, and almost no one could do damage to her. Stayed in T21 with little effort.

The latest Lyn banner broke me. Spent way too much money getting her to +10. Then Ascended Lif comes out and has a sword that OG Lyn wants, so I had to of course get it. She is really kicking ass with it though. She can almost handle anyone I've come across in arena so far. And when she can't Flame Lyn is there to take care of business. I wish the game allowed me to use all the Lyns I wanted, but it's stupid scoring system means I'll have to do some rotating for this week's arena. Thankfully, Flame Lyn is the bonus, so I can bring her and the Edelgards and likely stay in T21 pretty easily.

Its okay if you dont want to play bad games . Thats why this Gem comes with a feature that makes the game play itself.

you know something is seriously wrong when a game thinks it is so awful that having the Ability to >not having to play the game< would make the game better. An even better version of this feature is to actually just not play the game

Gatcha Gameplay. Poorly Crafted fights and levels compared to actual fire emblem games .

yeah besides all that its just a mobile game cashing off fan favorite characters. Story isnt canon because that would cause some massive continuity issues but you just need those fan favorite characters to get the cash in . Just play a real Fire Emblem game and you will be better off in every way

Well, I've played this almost every day since... two, three years? Surprisely adictive, pretty fun. Choose a character you like and take him to the best is amazing.

So I'll keep playing. I'd recommend this one for FE players, but maybe it's too late for beginners.
