Wii sports stood firmly as one of my most played Wii games, but I never got to experience Resort until now!

Archery is super fun (as recommended by Ureshi), bowling is as satisfying as ever, and even throwing a frisbee feels weirdly addictive. Swordplay is what really grabbed me - I spent a solid 45 minutes swinging my way up the ranks and becoming one with my rubber sword. I really like how physical the dueling feels. I'm not usually a fan of competition, but the move sets are so fluid and intuitive it becomes really fun.

What hit me at the end of my session after sampling most of the sports was that I was playing by myself. A meal for one. The opponents and miis on the island weren't friends or family, the mii selection screen consisted of me and me alone. I felt a weight of sadness because my Wii experience in the late 2000's was the opposite; the console lived in our living-room and was played with family or friends almost exclusively. Everything was a shared experience, even if it was a solo game. Getting a strike in bowling and turning to your left to celebrate to an empty room doesn't feel the same.

This is all to say that I think I'm going to start organising game nights, taking my Wii to friends and families houses and pleading with them to relive the Nintendo glory days. In a strange way Wii Sports Resort has reinforced the way I've always felt which is community is important to me and sharing little snippets of laughter and joy with each other is precious.

All of the sports are really fun especially archery and bowling. But... nothing beats basketball. 28 is my record on free throws, one day I'll get 30.

Party games at their finest.

Wii Sports Resort is more than just a tech demo like Wii Sports was, it’s a whole god damn experience. With so many more mini games all having a soothing island resort theme with some returning ones as well. It’s truly a must have for anyone with a Wii.

Wii sports does it again

Loved this game. So many new mini games to play and they are all a blast. Specifically love dogfight and the ability to explore the island. Would recommend getting this and having some friends over. A guaranteed good time.

Been listing games from my childhood for a shelf and I remember this one so fondly. I played the Swordfighting demo at a Gamestop and absolutely had to have it. I think I only played the Swordfighting, airplane, and basketball games over and over again and thought this was the best game ever LMAO

Frisbee Golf Better Than Regular Golf, Fight Me

If the original Wii Sports was a shockingly fun tech demo, Resort was a proper party game. There are few social video game experiences more entertaining than a lengthy, drunken game of Frisbee Golf. Also shout outs to Swordplay, Wakeboarding and Table Tennis. Archery is okay too. Everything else... eh. They can't all be winning ideas. I also have to …

I also have to say that I really want to visit the real Wuhu island some day. Seems like the jolliest place on earth.

Legendary

The second best game of all time. Right behind Wii Sports. This game is so much fun, nothing like Cycling and getting your butt kicked in sword fighting on the 5th map
