The world is in peril as forces, both good and evil, make a play for the powerful Chaos Emeralds. In Shadow the Hedgehog, you can control Shadow and choose which side to fight for. This 3D platformer lets you use weapons, vehicles, environmental objects, and time and space manipulation to combat your foes.
Although it is a 3D platform game as with the more recent Sonic Adventure games, the game's levels each feature up to three different missions (Hero, Dark, Normal) that the player may choose to complete. The game's plot depends on which mission is completed as well as subsequent playable levels. The game stars Shadow the Hedgehog and his quest to recover his memory, a goal he has been pursuing since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2, while an evil alien race known as the Black Arms is invading the planet.

Finished story through Last Way

Final thoughts: My god this game is a mess. Mechanically, this game was too frustrating to play overall with a lot of "cheap deaths" that I felt was a result of miss-targeted homing attacks and precision platforming when the physics is still jank. The Egg Dealer is probably the most broken Sonic boss I've played against because the homing attacks almost never work. The branching story-paths is a cool-idea, but I can't imagine the tedium of having to replay stages over and over and over again just to unlock all the endings.
While it's also not my cup of tea, this is probably the edgiest game I've ever played, and the meme-able quotes are fun. Not to mention, this game's CGI is miles better than all prior sonic games... the pre-rendered cutscenes look REALLY good for it's time!
Side Note: Only the 1st clear was played normally. Then I proceeded to load a save and played the rest of the stages just to reach the goal points, watching the appropriate cutscenes and endings along the way.
