I dropped this after 6 hours. I REALLY wanted to like it since it shows that a lot of care went into the world building, the sound design and the graphic style, it's really cute, but unfortunately the gameplay mechanics are few and uninteresting. The "haunting" gimmick is mostly wasted on mundane things like shaking a tree for coins, the combat is not challenging at all, the skill tree is incredibly limited and mostly unnecessary, the haunted being skill cost (purple flames) is irrelevant since you get surplus of flames by just playing normally, and there are too many stars that you can get too easily, it kills the feeling of reward when i get the same thing wether i beat a boss or press A to shake a shiny tree.
In the invitingly artful, mostly monochromatic world of Hauntii, a tiny, faceless Druid-esque being finds out he has died and energetically embarks upon a trek to search for his lost love. The game muses upon what the afterlife means, and the vignettes of silent stick figures have considerable emotional impact.
