Looking forward to updating entries like this now that Overwatch 2 is just Overwatch:

Overwatch is a free-to-play sequel to the first-person hero-shooter Overwatch, revamping the monetization and multiplayer while adding new Heroes, locales, and game modes.

The best part to me, these days, is the hero mastery. Just running a simple course as a single character, trying to utilise their skills the best you can. Forget playing online, just play alone.

OK I'm finally ready to upgrade OW2 from 2 stars to 3 stars on my rating. The ranked system has vastly improved in the last few seasons, and the newest hero Venture is just a total joy to play. They're still not getting anything from me with this monetization, but at least I'm having fun and I keep having the …

The new ranked system (Which is the old ranked system from OW1 repackaged) feels great. It's nice to feel a drive to improve your rank again. Too bad the balance is a complete mess. I used to be tank player, but the role feels unplayable. Maybe some of the new heroes would feel better, but there's no way I'm giving …

I used to be tank player, but the role feels unplayable. Maybe some of the new heroes would feel better, but there's no way I'm giving Blizzard money. Thankfully the damage role is still fun and I'm having a good time grinding that.

I may regret this and my mental health may suffer, but I think I'm going to check out OW2's newest competitive season which releases today. It seems they are finally overhauling the Ranked mode, which was definitely my biggest problem with OW2. I'm not expecting a miracle since the game had plenty of other problems, but the person …

It seems they are finally overhauling the Ranked mode, which was definitely my biggest problem with OW2. I'm not expecting a miracle since the game had plenty of other problems, but the person that played Overwatch 1 for 700 hours still exists in me and misses when this game was good.

I haven't played overwatch since around it's original launch - a completely different time filled with vodka lemonades, imaginary pandemics, and a rent-free lifestyle. I was pretty in to it - OW was the reason i bought a 144hz display. This NYE, sick and sniffly, I decided to give it another go, thinking i would hop on voice and have …

I was pretty in to it - OW was the reason i bought a 144hz display. This NYE, sick and sniffly, I decided to give it another go, thinking i would hop on voice and have some amount of social interaction. I played 3 casual games as Cowboy and Soldier, as I was totally overwhelmed by the roster - characters old and new. Especially the hamster. How does that shit work? Anyway, getting kills was nice, but it just felt like a waste of time (as most games do, now), and a monumental effort to learn the maps, characters, and strats. I do think the casual crowd could be fun to interact with. Maybe I'll turn my mic on next time.

Overwatch 2's PvE Hero Mode Is Being Scrapped

And there it is. I had given up on this a long time ago, but it's still disappointing to hear the news. Reading this interview, it seems the entire Overwatch 2 development process was severely mismanaged. I find it really suspect that they cite talent trees as an example of why the …

Overwatch 2's PvE Hero Mode Is Being Scrapped

And there it is. I had given up on this a long time ago, but it's still disappointing to hear the news. Reading this interview, it seems the entire Overwatch 2 development process was severely mismanaged. I find it really suspect that they cite talent trees as an example of why the game was too complex to make... Really? We're talking about a PvE experience here, not something that has to be incessantly balanced. WIthout a substantive PvE experience (I'm just assuming these new "Story Missions" will have no kind of progression or anything to make you want to play it more than once), and with Ranked feeling as bad as it currently does, I can say I've lost all interest in Overwatch. Very sad.

Just wanted to talk about the game itself for a little bit. I heard it was the same as Overwatch 1, but I thought that was an exaggeration. It literally feels almost identical. It honestly feels more like a patch than a sequel. It's like they decided to go to 5v5 and reordered the map phases and called it Overwatch 2. I actually told my friend that Overwatch 2 feels less different from Overwatch 1 than NBA 2K23 does from 2K22. That being said, it's a disappointing sequel, but the game itself is fun if you liked the first game.

Despite its horrible launch problems I am enjoying Overwatch 2 much more than Splatoon 3. From my experience Splatoon 3 seems to be much more about killing the other team members than the primary objective of painting the map, which means unless you can get the kills you are not going to make a difference. Meanwhile in Overwatch I found healers to be immensely impactful and enjoyable to play regardless of whether your team was doing well or not.

Overwatch’s launch problems really irked me but it seems to be getting smoothed out and I will definitely keep playing.
