I feel the game's a solid 7.5 out of 10. Among all the Metroid games I've played, I'd probably rank it in 3rd place, after Super Metroid and Zero Mission. The game's fun and runs well but there just aren't any real surprises if you're a veteran to the series that has played the other 2D games in the past …
I feel the game's a solid 7.5 out of 10. Among all the Metroid games I've played, I'd probably rank it in 3rd place, after Super Metroid and Zero Mission. The game's fun and runs well but there just aren't any real surprises if you're a veteran to the series that has played the other 2D games in the past 5 years. I think they wanted to give fans of the series a nostalgic trip down memory lane with this one, as it takes very little risks and simply feels like Super Metroid 1.5 with analog aiming. Not that it's a bad thing, this is a really solid attempt at a new entry by a team that wasn't composed of Nintendo's in-house devs and hopefully a sign of better things to come.
Worth the $60 price point? Not quite sure about that, personally. I think for what's offered, $40 would've been the right price.
