Pros

  • I like the aesthetics, characters, interactions, and the world. Story is pretty enjoyable.
  • You can pet the dog.

Cons
  • Basically every stage has points of no return, making 100%ing a stage a bit annoying.
  • Not sure if it's the game, it being poorly optimized on the switch, or my own hardware (my switch being old and my choice in micro sd), but I experienced a ton of performance issues in handheld and docked. A lot of instances where my game just paused for a bit, which interfered with my timing. Also a ton of issues with the draw distance where grapple points wouldn't be visible until the character was right next to it.
  • Time trial times are all over the place. Sometimes they are incredibly generous, other times it feels like they expect a near perfect run.
Outside of performance and minor annoyances, I can't really say the game does anything wrong, but for whatever reason I wasn't super into it. It was still enjoyable, but I don't think I'd get the sequel.

My only gripe is the difficulty. Later levels call for some pretty precise jumps off a swing, and I just never seemed to fully grasp the timing. Thankfully the game has some accessibility options that let me continue playing.
