False advertisement to the max

Got the game for a fun multiplayer tower defends game to play with friends. The game mode got completely ignored when the company learned they could suck the creditcards of kids parents dry with a battle royal mode.

I was trying to be so against this game.

I started playing it on the Switch but I was terrible at aiming with the sticks so I changed to playing it on the PC. I was against this game for a while then my friend started playing it so I tried it. It’s good if you don’t take it too seriously. You’re going to get jumped and sometimes it’s …

It’s still fun, just don’t take it seriously.

This is my guilty pleasure. Except that it is just a pleasure and i dont feel guilty for it.

I started playing this game in Summer 2022, when I fell in love with a person who is a huge Fortnite Fan. I strongly connect this game to that person and almost every game i ever played (~70 hours until now) I played with this person in Duos or Groups. (and I only play in No Build Mode)

And here is the thing. I randomly joked about this game in the past. I never took it seriously and never really wanted to try it. Until i learned that Fortnite is a game where this person finds happiness and fun whenever they needed it. Its a place to calm them down und brighten up their day - especially when it was rough.

And i know this feeling. I know games that are a safe haven for me. Games that make me feel home, that comfort me. Thats why I wanted to try Fortnite for myself. I wanted to understand why this game is such a happy place for that person.

And i gotta say Fortnite is SO much fun. Its SO colorful and SO dorky and SO motivating. Multiplayer Shooters can be super frustrating, especially when you don't really get what you did wrong. And sometimes you didn't do anything wrong it was just bad luck. In Fortnite I never had that feeling. I always felt that I had control over whats happening and this feels pretty good.

And I LOVE that its not just a shooter. You can do soooo much stuff in this ever changing world. Between kills and progression we danced in a Rave Cave to some high bpm Techno, we played with huge beach balls in a forest, we demolished a city with our cow catching car, we looked for treasure and dugged them up and we did hundreds of other things.

Fortnite never got boring and we always had tons of fun no matter what mental state we were into at that moment.

I am now a big fan and I am so excited for what is yet to come.

I still come back to play this game every now and then. Also this game got millions of players worldwide to play in such a short time span and it still has a large, active player base. Don't think any other game has come close other than minecraft.

P.S.: the new seasons are doodoo water though

Fortnite is like a pretty fun battle royal. It's more fun just playing with friends and as long as you don't take it too seriously, it can be a really good time.

Due to its hype in the zoomer generation, most millenials hate Fortnite. I think it is thus underrated in our generation to a certain degree. I've been playing it a lot lately and I have to say that I find to be one of the more challenging battle royal experiences. The gunplay is weird but if you truly want to master the building aspect it is quite skillful. The whole look is sort of childish, but to be honest, I find CoD Warzone in its masculinity and broness WAY more childish than Fortnite. Fortnite has a quite interesting colour palette and its bright colours definitely give it its own peculiar style and aesthetic. I really enjoy the looks now that I have my own skin.

And not to forget, hearing those peepsy baby voices of ten year olds in your team shouting around trying to win that Victory Royal is a priceless experience.

Fornite BR has swept the world: I even saw it in the local news. I decided to board the hype train and see what all the fuss was about. After downloading the PC client, the game, and linking my amazon account I was finally ready to rumble. Diving into my first match I quickly noticed how Fortnite is different from the competition PUBG. The client though slow to download updates was much more stable, matches start very quickly and the action is immediate. The gunplay is very different - favoring hit scan for most weapons. Gone are the endless attachments, replaced by a color rating. The map is small and has no vehicles and all the town names are easily pronounced. In addition, players can destroy the environment to some extent and build simple structures.

But how does this change the gameplay? If you find yourself visiting tilted towers you'll find that verticality plays a huge role in getting the drop on your enemy. Players who build effectively can get the upper hand on their opponents and control the battlefield terrain is a huge part of the game. Since building can give you a big advantage, weapons that use explosives are also extremely useful. Finding a rocket launcher can be helpful in taking down late game enemy structures.

Overall, the fast-paced action of Fortnite is what really draws in the crowds. Getting into the action quickly with few hickups is very appealing. You consistently find action and finding that golden weapon feels very rewarding. The tactics may be different from more competitive shooters - but that is a good thing. The unique aspects of Fortnite help to make the experience more memorable. There are some minor balance issues with weapons that should be addressed (shotguns seem to be a go-to for all situations/players). In addition, weapon variety and map variety is very limited. With only one very small map and a few types, the appeal won't last for everyone.
