The Power of Creation
I can't believe I'm making a post about Fortnite, but I saw a clip from the State of Unreal showcase and noticed that they're bringing unreal engine 5 creation tools to Fortnite, meaning that user generated content will likely be the future of the game.
Now I don't care for Fortnite in the slightest, but the UE5 toolkit is extremely powerful and opens up a lot of possibilities for budding creators and developers.
A lot of people seem to be crediting Epic Games with revolutionising the industry with this move, and whilst it is significant for user creation, it's certainly not the first time it's been done. Which got me thinking about the hay day of developers supporting PC modders, and all the games that focus on user generated content or creations.
Games like Dreams, Mario Maker, even things like Mains Assembly where you create your own vehicles, Garry's Mod, and many many titles / software that I can't remember right now. But what are your favourites? Are you a fan or creating your own experiences? Taking games into your own hands?
