Playing this for the first time on my New 3DS... With a C-Stick, gyro and widescreen patch. Decent start so far! This is the guide I followed:

I played the first two levels of this game and feel like I've seen enough. Watching a video review on youtube points out that it gets pretty repetitive, with the same bosses making reappearances over and over. After the first two levels, I softlocked the game somehow while exploring and had to shut it off. Not sure if I'll bother booting it up again. It just makes me want to replay Metroid Prime. The graphics and cutscenes are really great for the DS though. Maybe if I ever get a thumb strap stylus I'll give it another chance. The controls are a pain to get used to with a regular stylus. In hindsight the original DS system could have really benefited from a C-stick expansion. It would have been easy enough for Nintendo to make one that plugs into the GBA slot and wraps around to the side of the system.

This game is a lot of fun. I wish more DS games had utilized this controls system.

Kinda like playing doom on a toaster...

An interesting tech Demo with too little to do and too long to do it. Would definitely have been disappointed to have bought it full price back in the day but now I can appreciate the tech squeezed into this little game.

up to 4 now...each level is kinda it's own little puzzle and that's neat....it's nothing amazing but so far each stage doesn't overstay it's welcome...only really lame thing are the boss fights...

3/8 down...I'm emulating it but it still hurts my hand like heck so i think I'm getting the full experience.
