I played Massacre in one sitting and it was exactly what my wife and I were looking for.
The game doesn't tell a deep story, but follows the trends of many shallow but over the top slasher movies from the past. There isn't a story that is particularly deep or exciting here. The characters are stock predictable characters. The killer motivations unspoken and unnecessary.
But that isn't the appeal of this game, the appeal is the ridiculous over the top kills, where each time you wonder how the kill will get the perspective character next.
This type of story is not typically my thing, but in video game format with less realistic graphics it really worked for a fun 2.5 hour experience alongside my wife.
The game does have some issues. Sections of the game have very odd slow parts where there is nothing you can do, and you are waiting for the killer, NPC, or event to trigger the next choice, but it isn't clear you are waiting.
The game incorporates a really interesting simulation of movie theater snack bar work shifts. This was fascinating and fun, but suffers from the same pacing issues some of the NPC/Killer triggers …

The game incorporates a really interesting simulation of movie theater snack bar work shifts. This was fascinating and fun, but suffers from the same pacing issues some of the NPC/Killer triggers have where movie goers move PAINFULLY slow up to the box office.
These issues didn't ruin my game experience, but they did cause some stumbles.
Because this game is shallow, anyone considering it should go in with expectations for a simple but entertaining experience. Its not really exploring new grounds, but what it does is fun and solid, if slasher horror is your thing.
