Dr. Radiaki is a first-person shooter that tries to emulate the style of classic 90s Shooters like Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, and 'NAM, but falls short in nearly every regard.

The visuals employ a rudimentary 3D engine with sparse, maze-like levels lacking imagination or thought. Enemies exhibit a goofy aesthetic, like refrigerators with machine guns, but the novelty wears off quickly. The game tries far too hard to be humorous and tongue-in-cheek without actually being funny. The intro movie raised my hopes, presenting an amusing premise, but the tiresome gags recycled throughout the levels simply aren't clever enough to work.

Gameplay follows the standard run-and-gun FPS formula, however Dr. Radiaki provides almost no weapons. You start with just a bat and acquire only a sword and Tommy gun later on. Enemies like gun-toting rats spout groan-worthy one-liners, but the biggest offense is mocking Asian accents and speech patterns in a blatantly racist way.

On the positive side, the soundtrack of sleepy Chinese/Japanese MIDI tunes creates some atmosphere, though it becomes repetitive, very quick. Everything is ugly, everything is bad. Dr. Radiaki is an ugly, boring, unfunny game not worth your time. I can only recommend watching a Let's Play to experience how terrible it is if for some reason you absolutely most. I deeply regret buying this in a bargain bin those years ago - turns out the joke was on me!
