The first time I played the game I tried to play Reach for the Summit from Celeste and it was so hard. I never managed to play the whole 11 minutes. I remember being exhausted and felt like it was the hardest thing.

The other day I noticed that I still had it on my list of songs and gave it a go. It felt easy, almost trivial, and I beat it almost with full combo. It felt awesome. A very concrete evidence of how I had improved.

Before I didn't download custom songs with only Expert or Expert+ difficulties --why bother if they are just too hard for me to play. Today I can get through most Expert and some Expert+ songs on my first try just by sight reading.

I'd say it's pretty on-message with Celeste 😁

I feel that I haven't posted anything about games for a while because I've been playing Beat Saber almost exclusively for a few weeks. I almost what to post reviews of specific maps that I liked.

It had been a while since I'd played and I hadn't seen the new "arc" and "chain" notes. The arc notes feel fantastic when playing Lindsey Stirling songs, which usually plays with sustained violin notes and strong percussion.

One of the songs apparently is even badly mixed and you can barely hear it over the game's sound effects.

Has anyone played them?

I've been practising one song in Expert+ for weeks and today I was able to finish it at 85% speed, which is such a great feeling.

In my crusade to make the wife like videogames, I got this which in theory has everything she likes: movement, music, light sabres. I think it was a success and joins the fairly short list of games that she actually and actively wants to play from time to time (joining the overcooked franchise and the first 4 stages of super …

My experience using AirLink vs Link cable further cemented my general opinion disdain for wirelles technology. Just use a friking cable, people. No need to faff about with signal strength, battery issues and all that bullshit.

Well, my girlfriend went to the USA for a conference and I decided to take advantage of it and get an Oculus Quest 2, mainly to experience Flight Simulator 2020 in VR. But I also decided to try this one, which is perhaps the main entrypoint for VR. And it's pretty good! Having to move around makes it not an everyday game, but it's super fun. The standard music that comes with the core game is, as it's common with rhythm games, not to my liking, though.

I'm quite surprise of how well VR works. There are lots of little details that go a long way in improving the experience. I like the fact that you can see a simulation of your hands in the controllers that actually change posture according to the buttons your fingers are touching.

I had nearly 500 hours into the early access Steam version using the HTC Vive before I finally gave up after another patch came up and wiped all the scores and reset the leaderboards. I’m not sure why the team did this but I’d had my fun and was happy to let it go.

With an Oculus Quest 2 on my face I wondered if spending the money on Beat Saber again would be worth it. I went with my gut and bought it again.

Wow! That was a good decision. The campaign is great (and challenging!). The new songs and Expert+ best maps are awesome. And the multiplayer is (against all odds) fluid, fast, and fun.

Let’s see if I can get another 500 hours into the Quest version.
