The player controls a Heian period police officer who must defend the capital city from an alien invasion by digging holes in the ground and filling them back up after an alien falls inside. The player scores points for every alien trapped, and the quicker the hole is filled up after the alien falls in, the higher the number of points are scored. The aliens increase in number as the levels progress, and they can escape from holes after a certain period of time elapses or if another alien passes above their hole. The aliens increase in number as the levels progress, and they can escape from holes after a certain period of time elapses or if another alien passes above their hole. The player loses if he comes in contact with an alien. There is a time limit for each level, and the number of aliens increases drastically when this limit is reached, essentially preventing the player from completing the level. Less

Another Example of My Iffiness Toward Arcade Games
This review is for the Arcade version

Look: 6/10 Never been a big fan of arcade-style graphics or Pac-Man vibes (tho, of course, this predates Pac-Man)

Sound: 7/10 Functional enough. And I'm always a fan of early sound effects.

Play: 7/10 Fun enough, innovative, set a precedent for countless other games. Basically you set a trap with Button 1 and apparently make it big enough? not exactly sure on why I have to make the holes bigger, I assume it increases the chance they get trapped. And as soon as they are trapped, quickly use Button 2 to close the hole back up until all the Aliens are dug. Even though arcade gameplay isn't my thing, the influence this had--and the fact they executed it quite well, arguably better than the later arcade titles I plan to skip during my chronology project--says a lot. I liked surrounding myself with the big holes to play it safe, but I didn't play through all 8 levels and don't really see myself doing so anytime soon.

Feel: 7/10 Well-executed, fun enough for a short playthrough, but not enough my thing to push through the whole game. If you like trap-em-ups you absolutely must try this, because this is so early …

Attachment: 6/10 Only will be returning if I want early arcade maze/trap-em-up games. Maybe I will fall in love with the later ones and want to return to the roots ha.
