The Swapper is a fun little 2D puzzle game. I guess you could say it's a bit like Portal or something; you travel around this place, solving little puzzles to progress. The map is a bit like Metroid, you can travel around and go back and forth to different areas, unlocking new places as you go. If you get stuck on one puzzle you can skip/ignore it and come back to it later.
It has a supposedly rich story, but for some reason I couldn't get into it. Most of the story is told in big walls of text or alternatively with pretty bad voice acting. As far as I can tell you're basically dropped off on this weird alien planet thing with an abandoned colony. You discover this "swapper" gun which makes clones of yourself. That's the main gimmick of the game, it's like the portal gun of portal.
The puzzles themselves are kind of cool. The idea for the game is brilliant and clever and very original. For me, most of the puzzles were a little too easy. I finished the game in around 5 hours without a walkthrough. I was pleased to find myself stumped by one or two of the 40 or so puzzles. At least it's better to have a game too easy than too hard in my opinion.
Apart from the unique premise of the game, the other fascinating thing is the art style. The game and the world look strangely like clay or something. It's reminiscent of The Neverhood or something like that, even the way the physics works you get the feeling that everything is very textured and real, like clay and rocks. It's hard to describe but it's really interesting and pretty to look at. It combines well with the gloomy space isolation atmosphere. I think this game could have benefited by taking more influence from Metroid: throughout the game you're stuck with the one single ability, your tools don't change. I think it would have been interesting to award the play with powerups as they progress, adding more layers and complexity to the puzzles, like Portal or The Talos Principle.
Ultimately it's a fun, cheap little game. I paid a couple bucks for it and I had a lot of fun with it for the time I played it. It you like little puzzle games and space isolation I'd recommend it, definitely worth checking out for the unique art style and original puzzle concept.

This game is very good in every aspect, but it is also really hard, when you have a brain like mine.
