This game is related to a invincible series, 1 season, with Atom Eve as main character. Game is not intended on people who watches those series, on the contrary, it explain everything from the start so you won't be freaked out with what happening in the game =)

Invincible Presents: Atom Eve is a visual novel that made in a comics-style which on my opinion was made really cool. While you won't find any epic animations, but you'll find a really nice style and nice drawn sprites. Even a spicy one, but no nudity :D

You will play as Eve - girl with super powers who is also finishing school. Game dives player into main character experience of trying to match the super hero life and a normal pupil life. Instead of giving bloody, bone-breaking experience which is more accurate for the original series, developers decided to deep dive into character itself, with it's romantic story line which really reveals the character.

Speaking of gameplay, this novel has it's own trump cards. Between the reading you have turn-based battles that kinda similar to "black book" game. There is no difficulty selection, but battles did not seems hard to me, did not lost any of battles with a 2 skill strategy. But it's just me, because this game has a tree of skills that looks really promising.

Each tree gives you new perks, like empath helps you choose variants of dialogue that will attract person to you or a fireband that will make you a powerful warrior in a battle with a new set of skills (which as i said, did not really required for me =) )

Speaking of dialogues, i should mentions that on my memory that's my first game where i played as a women with deep dive into feelings and worldview in total. That was a whole new experience for me which made this game much more interesting. Also for better immersion game has diary that will store any Eve thoughts while you make choices. That really helps to understand what Eve think about or feel and sometimes they could be funny.

Choices there a crucial thing (like in every novel, yeah), they affect the world and how other character will interact with you and the main thing for those who knows series - yep, some things will happen, want you that or not, but some story routes might really change if you wish.

As my personal thought - this game is really cool, i am fan of invincible series, i really liked to learn something new about it's characters and i played this game for the whole day (7 hour 24 minutes) and i enjoyed every second of it, brawo. I even liked changing of the plot as a result of my choices.

As for you, if you also fan of invincible series - you can try it. If you love romantic stories and/or novels - you can try it. If you expect blood, pain and omni-man - you can try.... actually not, you should not try it

Review

After watching S3 of Invincible i decided i wanted more so i decided to play this. It's basically season 1 from Atom Eve's perspective, with some changes and a new crisis. It's entertaining throughout, even though the choices don't seem to matter much (i could be wrong). The writing is solid and you do get to reject people. You are fairly constrained by the canon though, you can't romance Kate or something.

You spend about half the game in combat and it's... weak. You can put up a shield, disable enemy attacks (ranged or melee) and attack (idem). The firebrand skill tree also gives you an AOE attack but i only got that near the end. Combat gets repetitive quickly and only gets clever once or twice. There are also some annoying flaws. The game has no hotkeys and it doesn't auto-target a sole enemy. Worse is that your ranged attack uses all your energy. which disables the skill upgrade that doubles your dodge if you have 1 energy remaining. Which means you can only use the weak punch for most of the fight. Really annoying.

Finally, despite the keystone upgrades implying you can talk your way out of situations or use a "clever solution", that never happens in combat.

Conclusion

Atom Eve is a nice, short story that is worth playing through if you like Invincible. Just keep in mind that combat is kinda boring and probably should've been implemented otherwise.
