As much as this is a gorgeous game, and that I enjoy lots of aspects of it, I’m at a point where I’m not sure I’m going to keep going with it. It’s beautiful and magical but it’s also flawed and punishing. I’m putting it down for a bit and we’ll see if I come back to it.

It's done. I've just defeated the true final boss and got the best ending (at least the best ending pre-DLC). It's definitely going into my favorites list. One of the few games that deserves a 10/10 in my book.

This game just gets better and better the more I play it. It's become my morning game where I'll spend about 30 minutes with it before I go to work, which is a nice way to digest it. The challenge is just hard enough to satisfy you when you win, but not so hard that I want to give up.

20 hours in and this game keeps climbing higher and higher on my "favorite games of all times" list.

I think I'm in love fellas.

Hollow Knight is incredible. Such excellent atmosphere, art, sound design, music...everything is just great. Have only played about 4 hours so far, but it already deserves all the attention. As if it’s not enough that it’s just really good as a piece of actual art, the gameplay is really fun and challenging as well.

The layout of this game occasionally feels mean-spirited. Just followed a sign for a bench, got to a fork (with no sign), went left and was descended upon by four enemies at once. Because I never seem to find the cartographer right away, I have no map, so now I have to decide if I can take a break or …

I just got this one thanks to the Black Friday sale on PSN.

Actually, I'm a backer of this game on Kickstarter. I got the game for PC when it launched but I couldn't play it. The same happened to me with Giana Sisters. I think I need a new PC.

The Indie Witcher

If I were to give Hollow Knight a title, then it would be The Indie Witcher, because they both have the double edged sword that is enormous amounts of content. It is to me impressive that the indie developers Team Cherry have not only marked Hollow Knight at a permanent sale price, but that they have so far kept adding vast yet free expansions to an already sizable game.

I'm personally a sucker for good story in games, therefore my favourite games strengths usually lie in the narrative. This is not the case for Hollow Knight, because despite the game lacking actual dialogue narrative, then the environment and world of Hollow Nest is leaking with lore and atmosphere to soak in, Dark souls style.

What clearly rakes points for Hollow Knight is the feeling of adventure and fear of death as you roam further into almost endless seeming unforgiving labyrinths, and the relief when you finally manage to find a familiar place to call home. This sense of adventure, complimented by the games vast amounts of content, leads to a totally unique experience in indie gaming. As you stumble upon bosses, find mapmakers and finally start to map out bits and pieces of the gigantic puzzle that the world is mad up of.

If you're looking for an intense, frustrating, creepy, crawly and occasionally cute adventure game then Hollow Knight is the absolute best you get for your money!

So... I was waiting for days for a review code for this one.

They finally send a code for Xbox One... I don't have an Xbox One, we asked for a code for PlayStation 4.

It seems like I won't be reviewing Hollow Knight after all. It's a shame, I really wanted to do it :(

Beat this game already on PC through Steam but only got the worst possible ending. Playing now upon PS4 release to go for full completion and a lovely PSN Trophy collection.

Call me crazy, but I don't think this is a good game. I can see why some like it. The art style is fantastic and it has intriguing characters. Call me crazy, but I don't think this is a good game. I can see why some like it. The art style is fantastic and it has intriguing characters. However, I think the platforming is terrible due to the art style. I can't easily tell what's what. Is that just background or will that block me from jumping? Is that a platform I can get to? The colors blend together so much it is easy to miss spots I can get to.

The lack of auto-mapping for new areas is driving me bonkers. It discourages exploration. This isn't 1990 where you need your Nintendo Power to figure out what the level looks like. Even the original Metroid never did that. As a result I can't determine what I have already explored. Combined with the monotone backgrounds this makes it very hard to explore and find new save points. Alternatively I have to do a LOT of backtracking to get to one. Not fun.

I am very close to throwing in the towel.
