The protagonist of Lunistice stands at the start of one of the levels, a snowy eastern landscape

Lunistice really surprised me. The levels are fun and varied with plenty of secrets, the 32-bit aesthetic is well executed, and the soundtrack is very catchy. But more than anything, it feels really good to control. I'd recommend it to fans of Sonic or Spyro the Dragon.
