Okay I'm 20 hours in so here are my "first" impressions of this so-called-masterpiece.

The story is interesting. Some new people just got introduced again and it's getting a little overwhelming keeping track of dozens of different people and factions.

Dear lord I wish the cutscenes had subtitles. I find myself quickly cranking the volume and still can't make out a lot of what they're saying.

Battle is boring. I said it. So far, everyone is a melee attacker and there's really no strategy involved. Okay, I get to hit different buttons, it doesn't fundamentally change much. There's no mage, support, healer, or any other roles (okay, I guess Bart's gear offers some support).

Gear combat is even more boring.

You know, for some reason or another, there are two things I really don't enjoy in RPGs - deserts, and military machinery, and joke's on me, that's what this is. Luckily I managed to avoid everything about this game for 25 years so I didn't know what I was getting into. I don't really know what I was expecting but the game doesn't keep the feel of the first couple hours for very long.

HA. I'm on my desert adventure with Bart right now. I literally laughed out loud because before that, it's machines, military, let's find robot parts, and then you meet Grahf in the desert and he's all "I NEED YOU TO KILL GOD" And then Citan's like "I'm someone else, surprise, space emperor tell me about the Gospel!"

Just in case …

Just in case you forgot this was a JRPG for a second.

I've been waiting to play this, well, since it came out. I started it as a kid and got to the Blackmoon Forest and just got there tonight.

I have to say this has a very slow start. For some reason it took me like an hour to find Alice's house and advance the plot.

My favorite RPG of all time. It hasn't aged well and Disc 2 was rushed, but I don't care. It has a great mix of human and mech fights, utilizing combos to do damage. The lore is immense and the plot is simply devastating.

Played on PS1 emulator. 61 hours In-Game Time, using a guide and fastforward.

-Horrible camera controls and platforming sections

-Vast majority of encounters are laughably easy (and super slow)

-Disc 2 is a complete joke. The game is not even properly finished

-Characters are "meh" at best, the higher-up villains being particularly bad

-Story has a couple of very interesting …

-Story has a couple of very interesting moments, then quickly degenerates to the usual JRPG cliches

-The mechas look cool I guess...

-Music by Mitsuda is OK but not even close to Chrono

Recommended only to JRPG enthusiasts, there are many better RPG's out there.

Loooong cutscene after beating Ramsus, talked to Chu-chu and then saved.
