RoadTo360 22, NBA 2K6: No Reason To Go Back
This review is for the Xbox 360 version

I am on a journey to beat 360 random Xbox 360 games. Here's my next adventure.

Game number 22 was NBA 2k6. This is a basketball game, where you get to play basketball as all the NBA teams and players from late 2005.

I was honestly unimpressed by the amount of teams you get to play as here. You have all the current teams + east, west, and all stars from each decade. I had some friends over the other day and we were playing NFL Quarterback Club 98 on the n64 and the options there were huge. There were like 7-8 different legacy years for each team. I feel like there could have been more for NBA 2k6 on the 360.

The graphics aren’t too bad for a 360 launch title, but the menus are absolutely terrible to maneuver.

There are a good amount of game modes here. The main one I played was just quick game, but there is also a career mode. In that mode, you play as a specific player and have to go from a street baller to a pro. The association is the manager mode for this game and there is also a tournament, …

There are a good amount of game modes here. The main one I played was just quick game, but there is also a career mode. In that mode, you play as a specific player and have to go from a street baller to a pro. The association is the manager mode for this game and there is also a tournament, season, and street mode.

I feel like this game focused a little too much on street ball. The first hour and a half (which is all I played) of the career mode was all street ball and I was playing a lot of 1-1 matches. Maybe someone more into basketball is into that, but I just wanted to be drafted and playing full games.

The controls feel a little stiff at times and the players are often unresponsive. I would try to pass and it felt like it took my character a full second to get the pass off. There were also times where my player didn’t move in the direction I wanted.

Overall, skip NBA 2k6 unless you want to play all the Xbox 360 launch titles. There is no reason to go back to this game and I felt like the controls were honestly pretty bad + I spent a lot of time playing street ball matches instead of actual NBA games. From my (somewhat lacking) knowledge of the series, I think something around 2k10 - 2k13 was the best era for 360 2k games.

Updating my review here: This game actually has SOME interesting career and additional game modes. It deserves better than a 2/10. (4/10)

I spent 2 hours, 12 min, and 12 sec playing NBA 2k6

I have spent 229 hours and 5 minutes on the Road to 360 challenge so far.

Next Game: Warhammer Battle March
